METALLURGY OF A DISTANT WORLD
"Well, I don't know,… about a year ago, I was studying a strange planetary object in Deep space when my shuttle was chased by some alien creatures. The fleet's admiral sent me away in a shuttle, which got sucked into this damn planet, and I was put into suspended animation. When I woke up, I explored around and was found by the bloody cat which has been chasing me around for months and that is my story", Ronnie explained to me.
Ronnie was a human in the 22nd century Earth. How Ronnie ended up in this world was a mystery after a few hundred years had passed. According to him, he just got lost in space not too long ago.
"You do realize this is not Earth, right?" I asked him.
"Of course, why else will I do the E.T. finger greeting with you", he told me.
"You are definitely far far away from Earth", I told him.
"Are you also from Earth because you know so much about us", he asked me.
"Oops, I spoke too much, I am not supposed to let him know my previous life was from his homeworld and in my previous life my faction was actually his faction's enemy", I complained to myself.
Ronnie and my previous me, were technically still at war.
"Ok I'm going now, bye", I told Ronnie, trying to get as far away as possible from my newly discovered nemesis.
However, Ronnie wasn't going to leave me alone after finding an E.T. who could speak his language.
"No way, I'm following you, at least I can talk to you", Ronnie insisted on coming with me back to Slowan village.
Although Ronnie was someone from the Illuminati, an organization that was at war with our United Earth Alliance, the Solar System was gone and so was Ronnie's space armada. He was just another human who woke up in an alien world and wasn't really threatening, in my view.
However, Ronnie's presence gave me tremendous opportunities. Opportunities that I missed after I was reborn into this world.
"Ok you can follow me, but you must do something for me", I told Ronnie.
"Anything I could", he told me.
------
I brought Ronnie back to Slowan village and immediately I claimed my passage fees from him.
"Ok, what do you want me to do for you, little Orion?" Ronnie Grump asked me.
"I just want you to melt these metals for me with your phasers", I asked him.
"These are some scraps from my ship. Why do you want to melt them for?" he asked me.
"I want to cast something from them", I replied to him.
"Whatever, it's a piece of cake for me. Where are we doing the smelting?", he replied to me and asked,
We went to Bommur's place and Bommur came to serve me personally.
"I have the forge for the rest of the day, the smiths have left early for a wedding", Bommurs told me.
"Did you make the clay molds?" I asked him.
"Yes, I've made the casting molds from the wood carvings you gave to me. Why are you casting these strange blades?" he asked me.
"I'm making them into useful weapons, and this here is my friend Ronnie, he would be doing the smelting", I told Bommurs and introduced Ronnie to him.
"Hi, are you a smith?" Bommurs asked Ronnie but Ronnie couldn't understand his language and neither did Bommurs understand him.
"Damn, we have a language barrier here", I said to them.
"Well, Ronnie isn't a smith, and we won't be using your family's forge. We are only using mold and tools to shape the molten metals", I told Bommurs who was still unsure what I was about to do.
"I don't understand. How can you melt metals without a forge?" Bommurs asked me when suddenly a bright light enveloped the forge.
"Hey, what happened here?" Bommurs asked us about the bright lights.
The lights came from Ronnie who fired his phaser into the scrap metal that I salvaged from his shuttle in the forest.
"Now, quickly pour the molten metal into the molds", I told Bommurs who quickly poured the metals that Ronnie melted into the prepared molds.
"Now what are we going to do next?" Bommurs asked me.
"It is all up to you now. Once the metal cools a little, you'll fashion the metals into the blades that I want", I told him.
"Alright, I know what to do", he replied to me.
Bommurs removed the molten metal from the mold when it was ready and while the metal was still hot, he started to beat them with a hammer and eventually shaped them into a blade.
"What did Ronnie do to the metals with his bright light? Is he a powerful Conjurer? And why do you need a conjurer to melt metals when we have a forge", Bommurs began to bombard me with questions as he worked.
"The metal comes from the strange ship in the forest and no forge in Slowan Town could melt them, so I brought Ronnie to help me melt them erm… with a divine weapon", I told Bommurs.
The metal was so rare and made from advanced metallurgy that it couldn't be melted by the forges in the village. Ronnie's laser was the only way that could do so.
"Here you go, a curved crescent blade with no handle", Bommurs showed me his workmanship.
"This is beautiful", I praised his workmanship.
"Although we don't question the customer's preference, I'm curious, how can you use the blade without a handle?" Bommurs asked me.
"Well, they are not meant to be thrown with hands", I told him who had no idea what I was talking about.
"It must be part of another strange trap that you are building", he replied to me.
"And by the way, this is the toughest metal that I've ever seen", Bommurs said to me.
"Yes, it is basically indestructible in this world", I told him.
"Why do you even need a blade when I can fire from my phasers", Ronnie said to me adding to the conversation although he missed out on everything that we talked about earlier.
"The blade is to be used for magic", I replied to him.
"Just like the flying balls?" he asked me.
"Yes," I replied to him.
"Hey, what are you two talking about and in gibberish?" Bommurs asked us.
"Well, we need to get AI translator and train it ASAP", I told Ronnie.
"My laptop is still in my shuttle", he replied to me.
