chapter thirteen

Everybody stood up and started clapping as if it is the queen of England that stepped in.

With pride,Maya walked to her special seat as if she is descending from the sky with us trailing beside her.

She sat down and we helped her repair her over flowing dress.

As I was about to go and seat,she held my hand

"Pls sit here. They would ask for the celebrant's best friend and I know malika would rush over to sit with me and I don't want that so just sit here since you are now my close friend" she said with smile that made my heart warm.

I smiled back and sat down. I don't like this malika of a girl. She seems rude

Habiba smiled sweetly and went to sit at where other guests are.

The space on the ground between Maya and the audience is covered with red carpet.

The mc introduced himself,started cracking many funny jokes which made everyone laugh hard except malika that I spot at the far end glaring at whatever she's glaring at.

Then the mc called some professional dancers to the dance ground and they stand on the red carpet positioning themselves.

They danced really well and everyone clapped for them and they went out of the dance floor or whatever.

The mc decided to play game with the children there.

Three chairs are placed on the carpet backing each other. He picked out some children and they were excited.

They were told to encircle the chairs. The DJ played a song and it seems like they knew this game already so as the DJ just started playing a song, they didn't wait for instruction as they started dancing around it.

After a few minutes, the music stops and the children rushed to occupy a seat. Unfortunately, its just only three people that get to seat on it and others were disqualified. Everybody laughed.

That's how the game continued and a boy finally wins and he did a back flip with happiness that everybody cheered for him.

"Ok now,since the children have had their own fun, now its time for Maya's friends to play the game. And to make it more fun, there's gonna be a gift for the winner. I will start picking the ladies and gents now" the mc announced

Oh no

I don't want him to choose me. I hope he will consider the fact that I'm sitting with Maya he shouldn't call me.

"Hmm, we shall pick Maya's best friend first. So you sitting with the princess, pls step out" the mc said referring to me

Shit

I really don't want to do this do I shook my head no. He persuaded me and Maya did the same.

Ughh this people. I gave up and went to the stage.

Malika,habiba, a girl and two boys I didn't know came to the stage also

The song started playing and malika was in my front. She would stop walking occasionally and that made me bump into her. It was awkward and she did it intentionally.

The music stops and I grabbed a chair and sat down. During all the rush to seat on the chair, malika stepped on me with her painful high heel shoe several times and I didn't want to give up yet because of her.

She won't get away with this

A boy,habiba and I that sat on the chair  and I use that opportunity to put out my leg in front of malika as she wanted to stomp out.

Unfortunately for her, she fell down hard because of her dress and my leg Everyone started laughing.

Her face was so red from embarrassment and she walked out of the garden entirely into the house.

Nobody would notice that this is my handiwork because her dress covered my leg.

The game continued and I finally won which I didn't expect.

Truth to his word, the DJ handed me a wrapped gift and I collected it. I went back to Maya and sat down. She grinned at me and gave me high five.

I didn't know when habiba went inside. I just saw her coming out with big birthday cake.

Some maids followed her with trays of varieties of things. The one that has juices on her tray followed habiba and they both dropped it on the table in front of us with small knife near it.

Other maids shared drinks,cupcakes and snacks to the guests and us too.

Soft song was playing in the background as everybody started eating their things.

After a while,the mc called Maya to come and dance, and with blush, she stood up to go and dance. She danced to her satisfaction and few people joined her.

The maids came back again with trays of food. It was Chinese fried rice and chicken for everyone.

It was finally time to cut the cake. An older woman is called to say things that I wasn't listening to because I was busy taking videos.

Maya cut the cake and everyone clapped. Fireworks exploded which wrote 'Happy birthday Maya'.

Maya's dad finally came out and she fed him the cake. He fed her back and the woman that came to say something was fed the cake by Maya.

Crazy music started playing and everybody started dancing.

Maya dragged me to her room quickly and I was somehow worried to how her face looked.
