601. Irrational Mercy

Normally in battle, arrows are fired upwards onto the attacking army so they fall, raining from the sky like hail laced with wolfsbane. Utilizing the laws of physics, good arrows would possess the same force they had when they left the bow.

However, this also depended on how far up they were shot. Given the bows of many hunters were already tampered with to shoot arrows that were faster than the eye could follow, this principle used in old battles wouldn't work. An arrow would have to travel a few kilometres into the sky if it ever hoped to regain the power with which it had been shot.

There was more to this principle, like air resistance, which limits how strong fast-falling objects could get, but Sandra wasn't about to remember every concept she'd learnt from the Hunter Agency.
