Chapter 4: Baby, I have been in love.

"Baby, I have been in love for twenty-two years".

Huh????

This. is. news! Biiigggg news! Extremely wonderful news!

Twenty-two years? I'm just seventeen.

Kira was surprised but

"Sweetheart, why are you telling me now?"

Almost automatically, Chu Hua's smile seized. "Kira, you once asked about your dad. Your dad is my lover, my legally married husband. Certain things happened in the past which will be story for later. For now, every thing is better".

Hearing her mother's voice sounding sad, she knew and realised that whatever story it was, it was a terrible and traumatising one.

"Kira, I want you to know that your father cares for you".

"In what way, mom?", Kira asked as remembered the face of the man who usually visited her at school. One day, she got into trouble in school and it was her dad who came. The trouble was resolved amicably and since then she was known to be the daughter of the famous lawyer. This incident was a kept a secret from her mother.

"He sponsors your education. He gave us this house. The monthly pocket money you usually received is from your dad".

Kira frowned at her mother's last sentence. How come she never knew? Her monthly pocket money was not at a fixed amount but it was usually a pretty large sum of money for a student. Sometimes, when she asked her mother about the money, her mother would say that she had gained extra profit that month from her business. And to tell the truth, she didn't know exactly what her mom did for a living. All she knew was that her mom was a business woman.

"Mom, what kind of business do you do?".

"I'm the owner of Chira's Stores", her mother's proud voice replied.

What?! Chira Stores?! That was a very very popular store. No! It wasn't actually a store, it was stores. It consisted of Chira's boutique, Chira's supermarket and Chira's restaurant. No wonder she (Kira) was respected each time she went shopping there.

"Mom, you never told me. I could have eaten the most expensive foods there to my fullest!", she whined.

She was happy!

"Baby, but I told you. You just didn't want to believe me". Her mother's voice was like a child complaining the her mother. Kira smiled. Her mom was worthy of been an actress. Indeed, her mom had told her but she refused to believe.

It was not once, not twice or thrice.

"Baby, neither of your parents is poor".

"Of course. Chris Logan can't be poor", Kia said arrogantly, her eyes twinkling with happiness.

"That's right. Wait? How do you know your dad?" Chu Hua raised her brow in thoughts. She didn't remember telling her daughter about Chris.

Kira froze and then she replied, "I met him. Mom, who bought your phone?". She swiftly changed the topic.

"You mean my phone? It was brought by my darling husband. Infact, we are using the same brand of phone".

No wonder she saw the type of her mom's phone the first day her dad met her.

"You know what? He is one who encouraged me to establish Chira's Stores. My favourite SUV vehicle was given to me as a wedding anniversary gift. We both have the same brand of phone, the same brand of car even some of our clothes are matching couples outfits. That's reminds me of when your dad took me to a private island bought under my name. Kira baby, your dad is amazing and highly romantic. Do you also know...."

Kira yawned silently as she pretended to be interested in her mom's story. She felt she wasn't been told a story but rather fed dog food. Any story her mother tells apart from bedtime stories, which she no longer listens to, are boring.

Some minutes later.

"Kira!

"Baby!"

"Kira!"

Smack! An annoyed mother smacked her sleeping daughter's buttocks.

"Mom, what's the matter?", the sleeping daughter whined as she woke up groggily.

"You brat, you dare to sleep when I am telling you about my love story?"

Oh no! She has been caught.

____

" Kira! Kira! ", an angry feminine voice was heard.

Laying on a rocking chair was Kira. On hearing the angry voice of her mother, she attempted to sneak out of the house. Just as she successfully passed the gate, her waist-length hair which she had packed in a ponytail was caught in a tight grip.

"Ouch!", she exclaimed as she froze on her steps and looked stiffly behind her.

A woman whose eye color was similar to hers, leaned leisurely on the fence while her right hand still maintained a grip on Kira's hair.

"Mom!", Kira called with feigned excitement as she smiled and showed off her pearly whites.

Chu Hua gave a strident sigh as she walked into the house with Kira following with a sulk.

"I'm sorry, Mom".
