Chapter 8

A hollow cave has its own pros and cons. The pro is that at first the cave awes the people with how it can mimic others clearly but after sometime the awe vanishes and instead people start getting bored of the cave for not having its originality so they leave the cave all alone. Pearl was also on the same page with the cave but the only difference was that after a few incidents Pearl had stopped being a cave which mimics others instead she became a very dark and hollow cave that scared others so much that sometimes they would fear to even enter it.

Pearl had stopped smiling because she had this notion that whenever she smiled or laughed something bad happened either to her or to her closed ones. She talked but not that much and she had a stoic expression 24/7. Her mom started acting with her in a soft manner maybe because of the fact that her daughter was cutting herself, bought out her affectionate motherly side which disgusted Pearl. That kind of affection was needed a long time ago when Pearl was desperately craving for it and now, Pearl felt that it was of no use as she had learned to numb all her emotions.

Pearl had created an alter ego which was 5 times more colder, meaner, stronger and ungrateful than the previous Pearl. This alter ego was named as New Pearl. New Pearl didn't feel any kind of regret for her actions. She didn't laugh on the most silliest of things and didn't talk unless she had to. Sometimes the previous Pearl would try to show up and look at other people's good side but she would be quickly shut out by the New Pearl who wouldn't allow herself to believe that others were nice and wouldn't trust anything that could talk. The old Pearl would've sucked everything up and was a total people pleaser but the new Pearl defended her ground and would say 'no' more frequently. She wasn't a sucker who would suck up every thing while plastering a fake smile.

Everybody started questioning why Pearl was acting so cold and stuck up which made new Pearl feel like throwing up because nobody questioned the old Pearl about why she was sad and whether she needed their help. Nobody asked this fucking question and instead kept on shattering old Pearl's heart and now that the new Pearl had finally taken over old Pearl's place everybody starts questioning her actions like WTF?! Weren't these people the one who drove the old Pearl to the edge of the cliff and threw her off from it?! They have no right to ask questions now because the old(cringey and pathetic loser) Pearl was gone and she was never going to come back no matter how many people missed her.

If only those people had treated the old Pearl a little better, then this new Pearl would have never been formed. If only they had showered her with more love and care....
