Hours had passed and after getting cleaned up and bandaged by Dr. Cardenas Ash was sitting in the dining room next to Alexandra. She looked around.

“Where are Alan and Snow?”

“They had to go home.” Lucinda said.

“Dad said he had to do something.” Caleb explained.

Ash took in the tired expressions of everyone at the dining table guilt making a pit in her stomach. She never meant to get so many people dragged into her problems.

She was brought out of her thoughts once the smell of steamed shrimp filled her nose. Placed in front of her was a plate of large shrimp sitting over thin noodles covered in a creamy white sauce. Her stomach ached in hunger, and she was about to begin eating when she felt she was being watched. Looking up she saw that Lucinda was looking at her in concern. They locked eyes and Ash tried to offer a reassuring smile, but Lucinda still looked upset.

“Is something bothering you Lucinda?” Ash finally asked.
