Take a Firmer Hand

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sally averted her gaze.

It was not something that deserved to be happy.

"How much did he pay you?" Ceres cut to the chase.

"What are you talking about?" Sally was confused.

"How much did Johny pay you to lie to me?"

Ceres gave a mocking smile. "Poor Sally, what else do you see other than money? How could you degrade yourself at such a low level for the sake of money?"

Sally was impatient. "I didn't lie! Why don't you believe me? You'd be better to make peace with Johny right now! That's good for everyone. I really don't know what is wrong with you. How can you ditch such a good man?"

Ceres picked up her bag. She no longer wanted to see Sally. "I'm sorry to let you down. I'm afraid you can't get the money."

As she spoke, Ceres strode out of the cafe.

"Stop right there! It's damn true! Why would I lie to you?"

But Ceres ignored Sally's shouts and left the cafe.
