Main Motive

After using the cleansing spell to refresh myself, I stepped out of the room feeling even more energetic and effulgent than ever.

Gosh I never want to experience that atrocious fever ever again, whoever gave me that poison was really smart on her moves but how I consumed the poison still remained a mystery to me.

I walked aimlessly along the hallway till I got to the stairs, holding onto the rim and rationalizing on my thoughts.

While getting past the stairs and closing in on the kitchen, I suddenly heard an unfamiliar voice and that voice wasn't sounding pleasant at all.

"I thought you said she'd be dead after taking the poison!" The voice was cold and deep, clearly it doesn't belong to a girl.

"It was supposed to, I don't know how she survived it." The second voice was weak and hesitant.

I tip toed quietly to the door sneaking a little peep, there was a maiden who was speaking to someone and shaking with fear.

I couldn't see her face since she had her back turned against me and whoever she was talking to stood a distance from her making it hard for me to see who it was.

If I dared to peek even a little further, I'd be caught without any doubt.

"Are you even sure she took the glass of water you gave to her?!" The man raged quietly making the maid tremble in fear.

"She did, else she wouldn't have falling sick, what I find hard to understand was how she survived the poison, it's strange."

"Glass of water?" I whispered to myself, so I consumed the poison by taking a glass of water?

But who could have giving me the glass of water? A quick recollection gave me the hint, I was still feeling unwell when that strange maiden gave me a glass of water, but I remember falling sick after taking a glass of milk from the maiden who was lusting after Lord Qui.

I'm still confused and the puzzles weren't fitting or could it be I got poisoned twice?!

Who was the man that maiden was talking to? Could he be the one responsible for the beasts showing up in Western village?

"She survived and will definitely come in the way of my plans, I have a feeling she and that so called brother of hers aren't just here for a treat, we can't talk here at the moment, meet me at the cave in the forest by midnight, we'll talk more there."

The maid nodded in response and I immediately hid under a table by my side, the maiden stepped out first after noticing the path was clear and ran off, followed by the stranger she was talking to.

He stopped walking right before the table I was practically hiding under and I covered my mouth to stop myself from letting out a gasp.

He surveyed the area and suddenly brought out something shiny from his pocket and it glowed bright red in his hands, I could only gaze at his shadow on the floor and the glowing red stone he held in his hand.

The power emanating from that stone was magnetic and full of weild. I was strangely drawn to it and the same time, it emanated danger and malice.

That clearly is a demonic stone, how could he possibly have gotten hold of something so powerful??

It must belong to the beasts and he's the reason why those demon beast are raging western village.

"This stone is going to be my ticket to the throne." He laughed almost menancly before shushing himself up, after clearing his throat, he walked off shoving the stone back into his pocket.

Fully sure he was out of sight, I stepped out from under the table, still stricken from what I've just heard.

His main motive for grabbing hold of the stone was to become emperor??

Doesn't he know the danger surrounding that demonic stone? It could be life threatening to the innocent subjects of Western village and even for him.

I can't actually take actions without informing my master first, I wonder if he knows about all this?

I hurried past the main hall, searching the garden and everywhere that was searchable for my master to break the news of what I've just heard to him, as usual he wasn't anywhere to be seen.

where does he go so much? that was oddly strange and he never tells me where he goes to.

I even had to ask a few guards if they've spotted my master anywhere but they were just as clueless, even the maidens who found it hard to tear their gazes of him had no idea where he is and the emperor seemed busy in a royal meeting concerning his village with the royal council's and I couldn't dare to interfere.

I sighed inwardly, he scolds me for going out on my own and now he's even worse than me.

I was slightly frustrated and half worried, maybe I should give him my scolding when he shows up as well, he needs to know I can be just as worried as he is.

If he doesn't end up showing up later in the day, I'll have no other choice but to go after them myself.

Highest thing he could possibly do might be to punish me but if I succeed in catching them, he might take pity on me and who knows, probably reward me for being a brave disciple cause who wouldn't want a brave disciple?

But he'll have to tell me exactly where he goes to when he returns. Could it be he's seeing someone outside??

I immediately wiped the thought of my head and the sudden ache in my heart at just the thought left me surprised, well I doubt it's that, it must be more important and I'm hoping he'll tell me this time around what's going on.

If he doesn't end up showing up, I'll just have to go with plan B.
