Awakened Demon

Striding across the hallway, Qui Shan seemed to be more engrossed by the structure of the dungeon, he felt the walls with his fingers and his brows knitted into a slight frown.

"I know it's difficult for you," I finally spoke up after a deep silence. "Staying in a place that's being surrounded with such dark energy, but you'll be free to leave tomorrow."

I tried to brighten up the mood after saying that, he should feel some relief at least but I hadn't expected him to ask me something as;

"What about you? Can you bear it?"

He threw the question at me and I had to stare deeply at him before fully registering his words in my head, can I bear it? I've bear it for a hundred years, it's something one is bound to get accustomed to once time passes.
