One week before.
Becoming a daughter-in-law from a rich family is one of the dreams of most girls. Because by being a wife of a rich man, she can do anything with her husband's money and wealth. Shopping for fashion, make-up, even luxury goods can be done. Including being able to do things that ordinary people can't do. Travel abroad or even watch fashion week events from world-famous designers.
That dream was impossible for an ordinary girl like Jazzy. It is common for the rich descendants to want a daughter-in-law who is as rich as him, at least even social degrees such as the son of an official or an influential child can be with them. Because for reasons of maintaining the prestige and honor of a family with a high social rank.
But that day. Whether it's a miracle, or a gift from God for her. Or is it a problem for Jazzy?
That afternoon when Jazzy finished college and was about to walk out of campus to the bus stop with her friend, Josh. A black luxury car stopped right in front of Jazzy, almost tripping her and Josh. Jazzy was about to scream and yell at the driver of the car. But the driver of the car soon got out of his car.
A man in his 30s came out in a suit and tie plus sunglasses. At first glance he looks cool and handsome, especially his tall athletic body and looks muscular. Jazzy was also impressed by his appearance, not realizing that he was walking towards her.
"Jazzy Ryker?" said the man as he took off his sunglasses and looked at Jazzy's face with an expression she couldn't understand.
"Yes, that's my name?" she answered a little nervously. Wonder and strange how the man could recognize her name. Though Jazzy did not know the man. Jazzy tried to remember if the man was one of the lecturers at her college. But how many times did she try to remember that no professor had looked like that and especially when he drove a supercar like that.
"Sorry, who are you, then how do you know my friend's name?" asked Josh as if he were Jazzy's representative, which he actually preceded Jazzy speaking.
"I need time with Jazzy, may I invite Jazzy to talk for a while while drinking coffee, there is a cafe near here, right?" asked the man, ignoring Jazzy's shocked expression. And without further ado he opened the passenger seat door and motioned for Jazzy to come in.
"Wait a minute, why should I come with you, I don't know you and I can't go with strangers," Jazzy replied as politely as possible.
Jazzy had mixed feelings. Afraid, curious, mixed with joy that a cool unknown man came to invite her to the cafe.
"I'll explain later while drinking coffee, it's not comfortable here," the man replied, starting to feel a little uncomfortable too because many pairs of female students were watching.
They also have the same passion as Jazzy. Who is that person? Who is that man? From his immaculate appearance it was clear that he was a classy man and perhaps a company executive or perhaps a secret agent. It could be.
"If it's important. You can stay here for a while, right?" Jazzy asked for a price, not wanting to take a stranger's car carelessly. Don't let him be a kidnapper with an angel face mask.
At first glance, there was an annoyed look on his face because of Jazzy's answer. He must have thought that Jazzy could easily go with him.
"This is important regarding my future and your future!" he replied, slightly lowering his voice. Jazzy barely heard it either.
"What, future?" asked Jazzy in surprise and the more strange this man was.
"Yeah, you want to go up?" he asked again, signaling with his hand for Jazzy to get into his car.
Josh held Jazzy's hand so she wouldn't rush into someone's car. Jazzy was even more scared, especially when she saw that the man's face was a little pushy and a little arrogant.
"Sorry, maybe you have the wrong person, there are a lot of Jazzy names in this campus," Jazzy replied, pulling Josh's hand to quickly leave the man.
Still holding Josh's hand, Jazzy tried to walk away from the man. What does that mean? Is he a strange person and wrong to approach people?
"Jazzy Ryker, born in Los Angeles on August 15, 1999, daughter of Mr. Chris Walley ," the man said loudly until it sounded like a 20-foot radius.
Jazzy stopped walking. Surprised and confused how he could know the date of birth and the name of her father.
"Jazz, how did he know?" Josh asked strangely.
"Maybe he is a debt collector, you know my Dad died leaving debts everywhere?" Jazzy whispered to Josh.
"You're right, why is he using your father's name at all," said Josh adding to his panic.
"Josh, let's run!" Jazzy exclaimed as she started to run away from the man. Josh caught up behind her. And they ran away leaving the man who was annoyed that they had run away.
Jazzy and Josh ran off campus to the bus stop. And soon the bus headed for the house arrived at the same time. Without thinking they immediately went up and sat on an empty chair. After feeling safe, they took a deep breath.
"Crazy, debt collectors are looking for you to go to campus?" said Josh. There was a slightly worried tone.
"But is there debt or not? A debt collector who demands to bring a luxury car like that?" Jazzy asked.
"Could it be, you never told me that your father left a lot of debt everywhere, maybe he was one of the conglomerates who borrowed money from your father.
Josh's words made his heart even more uncertain. Moreover, in the last few months, many people have come to the house to collect debts from my father's former business capital. Meanwhile, my father died without leaving any money to pay for it all.
While the assets of my father's business are unknown, Jazzy never knew what kind of business his father was in. And never knew dad's business. Because Jazzy's mother and father didn't live together. Religiously, his mother and father are husband and wife. But legally their country is not recognized. Because her father already had a wife. And her mother was a second wife.
Don't ask if Jazzy's mother is someone who destroys households? The answer is not because Jazzy's mother was deceived by her father who claimed to be a widower. But actually he still has a wife. And Jazzy was already born into the world when her mother found out about it all. Because she already gave birth. Her mother is willing to be underestimated and insulted by people's insults about her status as a second wife for a dozen years.
"Jazz, that guy seemed really annoyed, but he's not after us, is he?" Josh asked.
Jazzy looked back. The car seemed to have left campus and took another direction. Looks like the guy didn't catch up.
"It's safe," she replied relieved.
"Jazz, what now? Someone is looking for you on campus."
"How much does your father owe, why did he talk about your future, don't you?" Josh didn't continue his words.
Jazzy took a deep breath. Feelings of fear, anger and disappointment mixed into one. This can happen to her. Although Jazzy doesn't blame her father, Jazzy feels the need to be angry, because Jazzy feels like a victim. Jazzy should be able to study peacefully. Without any shadow of a debt collector approaching.
Once Jazzy and her mother had to hide for days because the debt collector was pacing back and forth in front of the house.
Jazzy thought she couldn't continue her studies in this condition. Should Jazzy quit college and find a job in order to help his mother? But what kind of work can make a lot of money with its current position without work experience and also not yet graduated from college.
