Grief stricken

Luck was not on Sharon's side. In the days that followed there was an awkward silence all over the house. Ty avoided her completely. She was 5 months pregnant now and she couldn't wait for the baby to come. Strangely enough Ty hadn't bought anything for a baby yet. Maybe he didn't care about the baby anymore she thought sadly. She decided to go into the woods where he'd met her to go check on....things

She bypassed security and crept out of the mansion. She knew the woods pretty well and quickly found the exact spot where she left him. Grass had grown over that patch of land and it seemed like she would be safe from the authorities. She felt the baby kick violently.

"I'm sorry baby, I had to" she said regretfully as she rubbed her belly. She wandered around until she finally sat on a rock.

Meanwhile.....

"SHARON!" Ty yelled. His temper gradually rising. "MARIO!" In a matter of seconds Mario, one of the security guards was there. "Mario, where in the bloody hell is my wife?"

Mario swallowed hard. He was surely going to get fired " We...we don't Know sir". He was surprised to see that his boss looked stunned instead of angry.

" Find her" was all he said and he turned around and walked to the gates. He walked aimlessly through the woods surrounding his mansion. All of a sudden he heard an earpiercing scream. He knew instantly that it was Sharon's voice. Forgetting about everything else he ran towards the sound of her screaming. His heart simply stopped when he saw her in the grass clutching her stomach and bleeding. The baby was the first thing that came to mind. He lifted her and she felt so small and fragile in his arms. She was trembling and crying. His heart couldn't take it. He put her in his Royce and drove her to the hospital he wasn't surprised when he was told that the baby didn't make it and that Sharon barely escaped with her life.

Sharon opened her eyes. Disturbed by the periodic beeping sound. She looked around the room in confusion . How did she get here? Then memory came flooding back. She laid her hand on her belly and began to weep quietly. She could barely endure the pain in her back and stomach. She reached up and touched her head. Her hand came away bloody and sticky. She must have had a wound on her head.🩸 Just then the door to her hospital room pushed open.....she looked up at the door hopefully. A nurse came in to check her vitals and change her drip. She had to know how her child was.

"Excuse me?" Her voice sounded raspy and she was thirsty

The nurse looked surprised. "Yes ma'am?"

"What am I doing here?"

"Getting treatment."

"I know...but am I okay?"

"Yes ma'am, you're fine. Just a little banged up"

"How about my baby?"

There was an awkward silence.

"Um... The baby didn't make it ma'am"

Shock took a moment to register.

"What?!"

The nurse swallowed heavily. Where was the doctor. She couldn't handle a hysterical patient.

"Ma'am I'm so sorry" the nurse began as she stepped forward to change Sharon's bandage on her head.

"My baby..." She whimpered. Suddenly she found it very difficult to breathe and she couldn't control her tears. She screamed and began to struggle with the tubes that we're sticking into her arms. The surprised nurse jumped back. The nurse grabbed a syringe and stabbed it into Sharon's arm. Slowly Sharon felt herself calming down.Where was Ty? She thought. She decided not to worry about it and drifted off to sleep.

He was loosing his mind in the waiting room. She'd been in there for hours and all the doctors had done was apologize. He was grateful that she was okay but the baby. That poor innocent child. He loved the baby even though it wasn't his own. Just then he noticed the nurse coming out of Sharon's room. He rushed to her.

"How's my wife?" He asked.

"She's doing well Sir. You can go check on her if you'd like. She's asleep now because I gave her some sedatives".

"Why would you sedate her?" He questioned

"She was hysterical".

He pushed passed the nurse and burst into the room. She looked so pallid against the white sheets. He walked to her and rubbed his hand over her belly. He pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and kissed her lips gently.

"Olivia" she murmured in her sleep.

His eyes narrowed. Olivia was the name of Corrine's mother. Could it be possible that they knew each other? Impossible, he thought.

He left her and went to see to her release papers . There would be hell to pay if he found out.

After a few miserable days, Sharon was allowed to go home. Ty hadn't picked her up but instead he'd sent his bodyguard to get her. She was dismayed when she entered the air conditioned car.

"Why didn't my husband come get me?" She asked the driver.

"He had to go for a meeting ma'am." He replied

She leaned back in the plush seats of the car and closed her eyes. She didn't even notice when they arrived home. Sharon got out of the car numbly. She walked around the house like a zombie for hours. She missed her baby. She missed the movements, the first fears and joys. She wanted Ty to be there to comfort her. He hadn't even bought stuff for me or the baby she thought sadly. It had been a while since she'd been in his room. She decided to enter his room to go check on things. When she pushed open the door to his room she stopped in shock and hot tears welled up in her beautiful eyes.

Ty could barely focus on the matter at hand. The guy across the table from him was blabbing some nonsense about industrial training but he wasn't listening. He was thinking about his lost baby. Maybe he just wasn't destined to be a dad. All he wanted was to go home and curl up with Sharon and make all her worries disappear. He turned his emerald gaze to the man across the table from him and the man stopped instantly.

"I'm sorry but we'll have to postpone this meeting"

"But why sir?"

"I have to handle something"

And with that being said he walked out of the room followed by his secretary.

"Call my driver" he ordered briskly as he walked to his office and slammed the door shut.

Dear me thought the secretary. He always bosses me around. Donna, Ty's secretary rang up the driver anyway

About an hour later, Ty was home. He could Sense that Sharon was home. He rushed to her room but didn't see her there. Surprised, he went to his own room and was shocked when he opened his room door and saw Sharon's wet eyes looking back at him. Speechless, he stayed rooted to where he was as she walked towards him with unsteady steps.

"When...when did you do this,?" Asked Sharon. She hadn't expected to see a crib in the middle of his bedroom. It was beautiful. It was green and white and it had yellow ruffles around it. It was perfect for any gender.

"I was going to ask you to move into my room. I wanted to surprise you" admitted Ty quietly.

Then he hurried on " But.... there's no need for it now and....." He couldn't continue. She'd kissed him out of the blue. Stunned, he just stood there while she poured her heart into the kiss. She pulled away and looked at him.

"Sir, I'm sorry about the baby.....I.." she choked and stepped out of the room. He looked after her helplessly.

Sharon ran to her room and shut the door. My baby she thought. My baby's gone. The weight of it crashed down upon her and she jumped on her bed and cried into her silk pillow.

The months dragged on slowly and her body recovered from the miscarriage. She spent all day inside her room and Ty never checked on her. She thought about taking her life but it just didn't seem to make sense. Nothing did anymore.

That morning, the butler came to her door to let her know that Ty would be going for a business trip to Dubai and that she had the house all to herself.....she and Ty's mom.... Veronika.

Veronika was her role model. She always wanted to be a fashion designer but she was poor and her foster mother's daughter got the gig. She was happy enough to meet Veronika but she always remembered that she was Ty's mother.

He must've told his mom that he had taken a contracted wife and that they were having a baby. What would she say....it was her fault that the baby was dead anyway.

All those thoughts ran through her head as she showered and dressed up...fresh and clean, she walked down the massive staircase to go get breakfast. She had just begun her descent when the doorbell rang. She looked up wearily and the butler, Adam had gone to answer the door. The door opened and a beautiful woman stepped into the air conditioned house and eyed Sharon curiously.

Veronika's first thought of the pale woman who clung to the staircase was that of graceful competence. The poor dear, she thought. She was as white as a sheet. Was this the wife that her son Ty had told her about? She liked the girl well enough, she seemed like a nice woman....but where was the baby she'd travelled miles to see?

What is she thinking? Thought Sharon as the woman looked at her up and down, over and again. She vaguely realized that her knuckles we're getting white. She released the handrail and walked down the stairs slowly, coming to a halt before the elderly woman in front of her. She cleared her throat

"Good morning, I assume you're Ty's mother?"

Sharon's voice was soft and cultured. She had been living with rich people.

"Yes, I am"

"Welcome, I'm Sharon"

"His wife?"

"Yes"

Veronika's eyes instantly lit up. She knew she liked the girl.

"Well then darling, let's get you into bed. It's not good for a pregnant woman to be up and about"

She tried stopping her mother-in-law but before she could say a word she was ushered in bed.

"Ma'am...."

"No darling, it's Veronika"

".... Veronika then....I have to tell you something"

"What is it dear?"

"I.... I'm not pregnant anymore"

"Oh then where's the baby?"

She lowered her head and fought the sudden onslaught of tears.

"I lost it"

Veronika's face turned pale" Then let's find it"

"I had a miscarriage"

She was instantly at Sharon's side. Hugging her.

"There there darling".

This was what she wanted, she realized. A mother figure. Then Veronika dropped a bomb.

"You could always make another" she suggested causally.

Her eyes widened"What!"
