Chapter 11-Weed

Shaorung POV

"You don't want mommy dearest to punish you, whatever her name is, huh?" Rudolf smirked as I realized something. Was the real target Gungnir all along? The Legacy was way more valuable than that damn spear. So, was it a feint of sorts? Or a bluff?

"What about it?" I snorted as Rudolf took out his Hphone and waved it as he seated himself on a rock. "Unlike most people, I don't lie. Just check your goddamn Hphone which you have muted. We will continue after that." I then took out my Hphone and began to check my notifications and scan them. Then, I saw a glowing red notif.

"This fucker..." I uttered as I felt an explosion underneath me.

"We better head out. The whole place is gonna get blown up." Rudolf sighed as he vanished.

Now, why did I send a couple of kids to their doom? I didn't.

It's a good thing that we captured The Corrupted Vessel. Now that we have that precious resource, this world is not scheduled for damnation. With access to knowledge of other worlds, we can search for a solution for the damn ki shortage. Heck, she won't even need that thing anymore.....I shivered at the very thought of it. How can she work with that? It wasn't even worth a dime. Disgusting. But, we needed that solution.

I dashed through rooftops towards the stronghold of Gungnir, a normal building designed to look like an office, but it was holding more than just business. As I arrived at my destination, a woman was waiting for me outside: my mother's cousin, Mayla. She bowed to me and I returned mine.

"I....I would like to apologize for letting the intruder get away, sir!" she blurted out.

"I told you not to call me sir just because I am your superior." I berated her. Honestly speaking, I should be giving her respect, not the other way around. She chuckled as she reprimanded me for being a small boy and a couple of minor insults as she patted my head. She then leads me inside where there was no light, a contrast to the standard.

"The intruder disabled the lights here. Please be careful. There are dead bodies strewn about." she cautioned as she pulled out her H-phone and illuminated the path ahead as I followed suit. We then crept through the dark as I analyzed the mess. Glass lay strewn about with torn clothes. Walls were broken and equipments were mangled as I noticed something interesting: a tiny slab of meat lay on the ground. I picked it up and used Aaron's staff to test it as I proceeded a bit further.

"What is the status of Gungnir?" I glanced at her.

"Currently safe but unstable. There's a high chance the weapon might go to sleep," she affirmed a fear I had for a long time.

"Did you find the reason for the rejections by the weapon?" I asked.

"I do have an answer to that, sir, but first let's head to the basement. I need to show you something," she smirked as she tripped over a body. "Aargh!!" she shouted, dramatically raising her hands.

"I must report this to mom." I sniggered as I took a picture of her. "Look at her sister, screaming at a body." she snarled as she turned around and kicked him in the shins.

"Don't you dare say a word of what happens from this point with her!" she grabbed my tux. I brought my arms on her elbows, folding them. "Aunty," I whispered, "We have known each other for so long yet you react like this? You are like a baby!" As I said this, my staff beeped and mentally confirmed the results I was expecting: Human.

She growled as we heard a sharp sound: "My legggggggggg!!!!!" it roared. I narrowed my eyes as I let her go and dashed upstairs where the yells originated from. She followed my pursuit as we saw a man screaming in pain whilst holding his thigh which was missing its calf. The flesh surrounding the amputated area had become black and was beginning to wilt. She dashed to him and immediately removed his pants, looked at him for a minute before conjuring a dagger, and was about to stab him as he trembled and cawed but I stopped her hand before she brought it down.

"What are you doing?" I was riled by the act. Why would you kill an injured person?

"Why's my goddamn leg not moving?" he growled as he pulled her towards him to try to get up. He seemed to

"Sir," she freed herself of his collar, "Please be calm and wait a moment. You have lost a leg and you won't be able to move as such.'' She then turned towards me. "Look at his wound, won't you?" she sighed as I looked down to see a chilling site that would have sealed the man's fate under normal circumstances: the blackness had gone past his torso and into his abdomen.

"What the..." I muttered, horrified.

"WHADDYA MEAN 'WHAT THE?'" The man roared. "MY FUCKING LEG IS GONE? BULLSHIT! I CAN STILL FEEL THE FUCKING THING! I JUST CAN'T MOVE IT BECAUSE OF THE GODDAMN CRAMPS! FUCK YOU WANT ME TO DO? USE YOU AS A STRETCHER? NAW MAN! I DIDN'T EVEN SIGN UP FOR THIS FUCKHOUSE OF A JOB WHEN I AM SUPPOSED TO BE CHASING FUCKING CHUPACABRAS FOR OUR EXPERIMENTS!"

"Calm down!" I whacked his neck, knocking him out.

"Gangrene has spread past his limbs. It would be better to kill him off than to let him live." she pointed. I sighed as I used Aaron's staff to remove his gangrene.

"I can heal people." I reminded her as she facepalmed so hard the impact caused the wall behind her to fly to Texas. "Gone with the wind." I chuckled at the sight. We then ascended the steps, stained by blood and bodies till we reached the highest floor. The keypad had been destroyed and sparks were coming out of it possibly due to the blood staining it. The door was wide open, revealing an expanse of red, painted by scientists. But what stood at the center of the room was a pristine marble pedestal where the spear stood, chained down so that it wouldn't be stolen. Its pulchritudinous black handle couldn't match its apex: a brown spearhead adorned by four bent blades on either side. This is where the magnificent Gungnir was stored.

Or at least where it was supposed to be....it's....gone.

Gone.

Gone.

Gone.

GONE.

I don't exactly remember what happened within the next few moments. I think I did flip someone like a pancake in mid-air before catching them by something and started beating them like a rag to remove dust before something pulled me away? Maybe that's what happened? Maybe it wasn't clear due to my initial shock of failure despite learning humility, or maybe my lesson wasn't enough and I had to not limit that application to just my plans anymore. Whatever.

I found myself stuck to the wall, right after that blur ended. This was weird. Didn't she say that it was safe? There was only one conclusion.

I brought out Tengkong as I left a slash on her from where I was. Her eyes widened as they lowered before backflipping away. She then smirked as runes appeared on her body. I growled as I raced for her before a fence of fire was erected between us. I blew it away as Tengkong flew from my hands through the entrance I had created as I followed. As we arrived on the other side, shards of ice swooshed past me while a few screeched against my skin. I then told it to use an illusionary feint as I appeared to thrust for her belly, but was going to give her treatment from the underground. She however backed off right when she parried the illusion, thus barely missing her but cutting her shirt.

She was going to fucking hell for this. I growled as I activated my fourth phase of Aaron's rod: flowers, leaves, and vines appeared over my body as I released toxic fumes into the room. She sniggered as she inhaled the noxious fumes, which surprised me. Is she mocking my skills? She replied with a blinding light as I raised my hand to protect myself, but this wasn't enough. I could still feel the light penetrate my eyes and I turned down as I covered them. But it wasn't enough. I could still see despite my eyes being closed and I could feel a thick liquid stain my face from my eyes.

I screamed. I screamed like a bitch. It burned. My eyes burned. I was being cooked in a tandoori oven. I pitied the bloody tandoori chickens I used to eat till now and prayed for their forgiveness from the heavens. I don't care anymore. I can't see. I can't anymore. I am a blind man.

I then heard a chuckle behind me as I spun around. My vision was slowly returning to me thanks to my regeneration and the chickens I have feasted on. I could see only random spots, but I could see that the bitchass traitor Mayla had stopped flash-banging me and was slowly approaching me. The footsteps thundered across the room despite being slow. I could see a slight curve on her face.

"This isn't the final performance." she chortled as she pulled out a chain. "And you won't be there to see it." she turned it into a lasso as she flung it towards me. I barely rolled under it as I scrambled for her, hoping to poison her at close range. As I was close to laying my hands on her, I turned around to see the chain retract. I ducked and rolled to the left as it returned to its owner. Breaking it was useless, for it was Gleipnir, the unbreakable chain of Odin. I needed to beat her another way.

I rolled to the left as lightning struck where I was a moment earlier. The vivacious chain began pursuing me as I used Tengkong to teleport myself. The chain was a byproduct of accessing Gungnir's fourth phase. While extremely powerful, it can exhaust a person to the point of dying if you use too much or are inexperienced. That is why I never use the last phase. Fortunately, this was a cat-and-mouse game where I just had to exhaust her.

I roll behind a few cans as it smashes through them, throwing me to the side as I teleport again to the man I saved earlier. A few seconds later, it came after me. I then threw the man at the chain as I Dashed like a madman. God, please make sure he's fine.

I took a left then spun into a bathroom and leaped to the ceiling, slamming my whole body against it. I shivered as the chain crept into the bathroom and began smashing all the stalls, sending debris against my face. I braced them all as the chain crumpled and then shrunk away. I waited for a whole minute before getting down. I sighed as I made a mad dash out of the bathroom and as I passed the door, I tripped on something, but I didn't bother to look behind and rolled as I fell and went on my way as I heard rumbling near me. I thought that the chain had found me and I teleported again.

I then reappear inside an elevator, sighing in relief. Either way, her rampage will not last for long if she wants to get out. All I have to do is just wait for a counterstrike. It's already problematic enough to neutralize my toxins. I wait it out as I hear the rampage of Gleipnir rumble throughout the building. This lasted for about a minute. Then, there was silence. I sighed in relief as I readied myself for the next move.

If it was possible to beat her head-on, this would have ended a long time ago. However, I can't beat a wielder of a Major Legacy weapon in a fair fight. The only thing I could do was launch a surprise attack. Even then, my probability of winning is low. As a sword from heaven, I used Tengkong to scan the surrounding area and located Mayla on the second floor. I decided to head to the ground floor and wait with a trap for her. As I pondered on what to do, the chain burst out of the floor and scratched my cheek, making me back off to the wall. It then turned towards me and sort of looked at me before retreating through the ceiling, caving it. I sighed in relief as I continued brainstorming. She must be running out of gas.

The problem was, what trap should I use? Locae was useless due to one of the abilities of that goddamn spear, vitae was useless as well. So, what should I do to trap her? As I pondered over my dilemma, I received a call. From mother. Oh boy, I am going to have a field day.

I picked it up as I trembled, "Yes, m-ma'am?"

*

As I ended the call, I decided to walk out of the building. I was relieved that it wasn't a problem. My legs were shaking as I tiptoed, not wanting to be seen. I am a mess right now. Right when I reached the exit, a familiar figure blocked my way: Mayla. I leaped back with my arms in the air. "You got me." I chuckled.

She smirked as she marched up to me with a ki sword in her hand. She swung it as its tip graced my Adam's apple. "What are your last words?"

I smirked as I uttered the very words I was ordered to say: "You may go."

She snarled as she pressed the tip a bit on my throat, "You are in no position to order me."

"And I have no more business with you." I retorted. "We are no longer interested in Gungnir."

She swiped it away from my throat, leaving a thin cut on it. A drop of bright red blood oozed out as it crawled down my skin, following gravity's will. "What is it that's so valuable that you are willing to give up a Major Legacy?"

"Ask mother, not me." I shrugged. The walls creaked and crumbled as she gripped them and tore the surface. She scoffed as she fingered me before leaving.

I fell to my knees as soon as she was out of my site before I clutched my throat and started laughing as if I was gargling water while doing so. She will soon learn that it is too late.
