The Children's surprise and Evan's Smile

After wiping her tears, Evan sat down as the maids served breakfast: A plate of light-burn bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and beans and tea.

"What is this?" Evan frowned as he asked the maid.

"That's the breakfast the children made for you and the Grand Duchess, Your Highness."

Upon hearing it, his frown vanished, and he looked at the plate again. He stared at it for a while as Ashley giggled at him. She took a bite of the bacon and ate it.

"It's a little burn, but it's good," Ashley said as she looked at Evan

"If you don't want it, I'll have the chef cook-" The maid said.

"No. It's fine." Evan refused, and the maid bowed as she left.

Ashley smiled at him and said, "They made an effort to cook for us. I even saw some of the children had patches on their hands. I bet it was because of burns and cuts."

Evan sighed and said, "I will eat this, Ashley. You don't have to guilt-trip me."
