Missing him

Ashley slumped her tired body upon entering her room. It had already been a month since the trial had ended, and she got stuck between her Grand Duchess's work and managing the orphanage.

She looked at the bedside table and reached for the envelope addressed to her that looked so worn out. She pulled out a paper from it and opened it.

Ashley,

I went out with Louie because he insisted on finding Lady Marianne, and I couldn't just leave him to go alone. I promised I would be back before the night arrived.

Then shall we have dinner at the restaurant Bartholomew recommended. Consider this our dinner date.

I'll see you later. I love you.

Evan

Her grip on the paper tightens, adding more crumples to it. She bit her lips, trying to stop herself from crying.

She lay down in the bed, pulled one of the pillows, and smelled it.
