Greece.

1270 BC.

A village was burning somewhere in Greece.

The wooden buildings in the village was burning, the smoke from the buildings reached all the way to the sky.

The sky was dark, and the area surrounding the village was pitch black.

The only light that came was from the burning buildings, and the only sound that was heard was from the screaming villagers and the wind.

The villagers wore torn rags as their clothing, barely covering their private areas.

They all looked dirty and malnourished.

Four figures was protecting the villagers while holding stone spears.

The first figure had dirty brown hair with long arms and a skinny body. His name is Nicholas, and he is one of the village's hunters.

The second figure had a fatigued face with a dirty brown beard and a slightly more muscular body. His name is Adrian, and he is also one of the hunters.

The third figure was a pale-looking young man with a scared look in his eyes while looking at the pitch darkness in front of them. His name is Basil, and he is one of the new hunters with almost zero experience.

The fourth figure was a muscular man with a stoic-looking face— he also had a dirty brown beard, long brown hair, and rags as his clothing. His name is Caesar, and he is the Chieftain of this village.

These four figures were the only combatants of this tiny village, and currently... Someone is attacking them, or more precisely... Something!

They heard slight laughter and sound of footsteps in the darkness.

But, the footsteps were extremely fast— it was like they were running at super speed!

''COME OUT, YOU COWARDS!'' Caesar roared.

But the laughter only became louder.

''KYAA!'' A sound of footsteps was heard, and one of the villagers disappeared.

''Alexandra..?'' Nicholas said with a shaky tone— he couldn't see his wife anywhere, ''ALEXANDRA!''

''Alexandra... Pretty name.'' Everyone turned their heads and saw a man with long dull brown hair and bright red eyes holding the throat of a beautiful woman with ample breasts, blue eyes, and a malnourished face.

''Alexandra!'' Nicholas roared and started running towards the red-eyed figure, but he was stopped by Caesar.

''Caesar, what are you doing?!'' Nicholas roared angrily and tried to push him away, but Caesar didn't even flinch.

''Calm down...'' Caesar said quietly and glared at the red-eyed figure, ''Who are you?''

Red-eyed figure innocently smiled, ''My name is Eames.''

''Eames... What do you want?'' Caesar said with a nervous heartbeat, and Eames heard it.

Eames had a sickening grin on his face— Caesar was putting a strong front, even though he was afraid.

''This,'' Eames said simply and sank his fangs on Alexandra's neck.

Caesar widened his eyes in shock, ''M-Monster...''

''ALEXANDRA!'' Nicholas shouted and ran towards Eames and Alexandra.

''Ah!'' Eames sighed with satisfaction, but then he increased the strength of his hold and crushed Alexandra's throat effortlessly.

''NOO!'' Nicholas shouted, and Eames had already disappeared.

Nicholas hugged Alexandra's lifeless corpse.

''N-NOO!''

''KYAA!''

Caesar, Adrian, and Basil watched as all the villagers disappeared into the darkness...

Caesar and Adrian had their own wives, but now they disappeared.

Basil saw his parents missing.

Only the four remained...

*SWOOSH*

A dozen similar figures appeared around them.

They all had similar red eyes, and blood flowed from their mouths.

They licked their lips like they had a tasty meal not long ago.

Caesar gritted his teeth and aimed his stone spear towards Eames.

Eames was standing with two other figures.

''Aro, Marcus. Humans are fragile, aren't they?'' Eames said with a grinning face.

The first figure had red eyes with an aloof-looking face. He has black hair to shoulder length, standing 6'0" tall, with an average build. His name is Marcus.

The second figure has an average build, 5'10" tall and having almost translucent skin. His menacing red eyes scanned the four figures hungrily. His name is Aro.

The two figures looked inhumanly beautiful, like Eames.

''Indeed...'' Aro said with a small grin.

Caesar's muscles bulged, and he threw his stone spear towards Eames's unguarded face.

But Eames with ease caught the stone spear.

He looked at the spear and crushed it effortlessly.

''H-How...'' Caesar went pale in fright.

''Are we eating them now?'' Aro asked with a hungry-looking face.

But Eames shook his head, ''No... I think we had our fill for now... They can be our spare food...'' He grinned viciously.

Aro licked his lips and started approaching the four figures.

Nicholas gritted his teeth and stood up— he grabbed his stone spear and prepared for the battle.

Aro grinned and disappeared.

He appeared in front of Nicholas with unbelievable speed— Nicholas couldn't do anything except watch with a horror-filled face as Aro's hand approached his neck.

But when Aro's hand was about to touch his neck... He stopped.

Nicholas opened his eyes shakily and saw Aro's grinning figure, but his body wasn't moving...

Eames and Marcus also looked like statues.

Caesar, Adrian, and Basil looked around them and saw that all the dark-cloaked figures were like statues.

Nicholas touched Aro's face, but he still didn't do anything.

He aimed his spear towards Aro's face and thrusted it forwards!

*CRASH*

The spear got destroyed in a million pieces as it hit the Aro's face.

''H-How!'' Nicholas cried out.

''Weak, right?'' A bone-chilling voice came behind them.

They quickly turned their heads, and they saw a middle-aged man with a red cloak covering his frail-looking body.

''W-Who?'' Caesar said quietly.

''Humans are weak, right?'' The mysterious man said.

Caesar, Nicholas, Adrian, and Basil nodded dumbly.

Even they don't know why they nodded.

''Humans cannot win against these... Creatures.'' The middle-aged man said and touched the pale skin of a dark-cloaked figure.

''W-What are they?'' Caesar asked with a pale face.

''They are Apex Predators, at least they think they are.'' The middle-aged man chuckled innocently.

''Who are you?'' Nichola asked with narrowed eyes.

''How rude of me— where are my manners.'' The middle-aged man bowed and introduced himself, ''My name is Mephistos.''

''Mephistos..?''

Mephistos nodded, ''Weird name, I know... But anyway, I have a proposal for you four.''

Caesar and others started listening curiously.

''Do you guys... Want vengeance?'' Mephistos words caught them off guard.

''These... Apex Predators.'' Mephistos laughed after saying that word, ''Killed your wives, families, friends... Do you guys want to avenge them?''

Caesar, Nicholas, Adrian, and Basil clenched their fists and nodded.

''Good...'' Mephistos grinned, ''Then... Shall we make a deal?''

''Deal?'' Caesar said with some uncertainty.

*Snap*

Mephistos snapped his fingers, and four pieces of papers appeared in front of him.

''H-HOW?!'' They exclaimed.

Mephistos gave each of them the paper.

''Cut your finger, and press it on the paper... Then you four will have enough strength to kill these... Apex Predators, and enough power to make sure that similar kind of incident will never happen again.''

Caesar, Nicholas, Adrian, and Basil felt like it sounded too good to be true, but they wanted vengeance...

Without further ado, they used Adrian's stone spear to cut their fingers.

Soon, all four papers had blood mark on them.

Mephistos took the papers and bowed with a grin, ''It was nice doing business with you, well now excuse me... I won't disturb you four anymore.'' After those words... He disappeared into the darkness.

And... the world started moving once again.

''Eh?'' Aro exclaimed after hitting nothing— he turned his gaze and was shocked seeing Nicholas being next to Caesar and others.

Eames and Marcus narrowed their eyes.

Aro snorted and was about to attack again, but then...

Caesar's, Nicholas', Adrian's, Basil's eyes started burning.

''Eh?'' Aro looked confused until he was utterly shocked!

Their heads transformed, and soon flaming skulls replaced it!

''W-What!'' Aro took steps backwards with a horror-filled gaze.

Eames and Marcus couldn't believe their eyes.

The four flaming figures gazed at them... And first time in their lives...

Eames knew... That they weren't the predators anymore...

They were the prey!
