After driving through what seemed like the longest drive ever, they finally arrived at the party .
Sukie felt like she did actually fall asleep somewhere between home and the party. She felt like she had just woken up.
Parking was a mess at the location. There were cars parked everywhere in any way they could fit.
They finally found a spot near the pool house, which surprisingly was not that far away from the actually party.
However, in high heels, it seemed like a whole journey that would end with blisters and sore ankles.
Sukie grunted at the thought of it.
The senior class rented the entire estate for the party. With the number of bake sales and class fundraisers that were held, the class probably could have taken everyone to Europe instead.
However, the entire class voted for the house party at a fabulous mansion. It was easier for everyone to attend, so that ended up being the top choice. Especially, for people who already had jobs and internships.
Sukie pulled down the mirror and checked her makeup, then put back on her heels carefully.
They stepped out of the car and started walking over to cross the bridge that led to where the party was located.
Under the bridge was a beautifully lit pond with floating flowers of pinks and whites surrounded by a garden. It was quite serene and a bit romantic, with the exception of the loud music and cackling voices which grew louder the closer they got to the party.
“This place is so pretty,” Victoria said as she looked around.
“It really is. Imagine how the inside of the house looks.” Sukie replied.
“I know, right,” Vikki said, picking up the pace after realizing they were walking slowly, taking in the scene as though they had nowhere else to be.
The walk seemed to go on forever. In stilettos, it was forever and a half.
“See Vikki, this is why I don't wear heels,” Sukie complained.
“Beauty is pain boo. Work it girl.” She said, as she strut like a damn gazelle effortlessly.
“If you say, ‘work it girl’ one more time, I am turning around and catching a ride home with the first sober driver I see.” Sukie threatened.
“No, you won’t. You have Brent to see and a cute little gift to open. I know better.” She smirked.
“Dammit. Do you always have to be right?” Sukie asked.
“Yes. It is one of my many gifts bestowed upon me.” She teased, as Sukie rolled her eyes.
“An hour and a half, that is it!” Sukie whispered.
“I heard that!” Vikki shot back at her, smiling.
“Do I need to say it louder?” Sukie asked as Vikki ignored her complaining.
As they neared the party, Vikki stopped every thirty seconds to give someone a hug. That was always annoying, but she couldn't help it. Being head cheer dancer had its pros and cons.
Victoria was definitely a favorite. She had pictures with almost everyone in the yearbook.
They were lucky to get Sukie’s official picture for the yearbook. She always hid from taking pictures.
“Vikki, you haven't gotten rid of your puppy yet?” Sukie heard, the bitch, Allison growl.
Allison was Brent's ex. Her parents were filthy rich and got her and the professor out of their little scandal. The professor didn't face any legal repercussions and Allison was allowed to finish out the school year.
She didn't mind everyone knowing either. She felt accomplished to have had not only an older man, but a professor wrapped around her twisted little finger.
Allison led her life tits first in all her blonde glory that fell to the middle of her back. She wasn't even a natural blonde. She was a disgrace to the blonde community. Sukie thought.
Sukie couldn't deny the fact that she was very pretty though.
Allison was about five-foot-eight, very toned and slim with pale skin and a fake smile. She was a cheer dancer as well, but she was second in command to Vikki, which she hated because she wanted desperately to be captain.
What made it worse was that Vikki was Sukie’s best friend. So, Sukie was the enemy by default.
Being friends with Brent also added fuel to the fire.
Allison couldn’t stand Brent paying any attention to anyone other than her. With how much time Brent spent with Sukie, Vikki and Abel, she was fuming regularly.
The thought of it always made Sukie giggle. It was a tough break for her. Sukie called it karma.
“Why don't you go wax your mustache Allison, I see some peach fuzz growing. You may need some estrogen sweetie.” Sukie teased.
“Stupid bitch! She shouted, walking towards Sukie with her fist clenched.
“Hey!” Nikki cut in before the two came to blows.
“This is not the time or place for this. I spent too much time on my look to be in the middle of a brawl.” She said.
“Whatever,” Sukie said.
She was not afraid of anyone thanks to her dad. Allison was two seconds away from feeling her fury and getting a thorough beat down.
She had been harassing Sukie all year long and Sukie had to make sure she made it to graduation before she could retaliate. Being the bigger person for so long was annoying.
“It’s not worth it, Su.” Vikki said with an annoyed look on her face.
“Let’s go, There aren't any older men here for you to seduce, Allison. It’s not your kind of party. Sukie said.
“That's ok, Brent will do. He is definitely my kind of party.” She said, with a cockiness to her voice that burned Sukie’s chest.
Sukie glared at her, trying to swallow the lump in her throat.
“I must have struck a nerve.” Allison chuckled.
She was really pushing it.
Sukie clenched her fist and walked off. Vikki sped up to catch up with her friend.
“What was that about? I thought they were done.” Victoria said with a concerned look.
“Yeah, so did I. Anyway, it is what it is. Let’s get this over with. I am already ready to go back home.” Sukie said annoyed.
