Sasha sat on the lounge chair with a wine bottle and looked at the night view of the soul city. The lights in the streets and buildings shimmered like stars in the night.
Watching the night sky was one of her coping mechanisms to calm her surging emotions.
She tilted her head towards the starry nights and smiled tenderly.
"Mrs Baker, you know something...I think I miss you," She drank a mouthful of wine and wiped it with her palm.
"I really wish you were here with me. Then it wouldn't have hurt this much," Her voice trembled as she continued,
"I used to believe that they...Zach Reagan and Selene Coleman...they never liked children. But when I saw it with my own eyes... how they treated their kids, it almost made me question my existence as their "FIRST" child,"
A bitter smirk hurled on her wine coated lips,
"They never liked me, not even for once... why would they even like me? I'm the living proof of their mistake while others came to their life as a blessing. Otherwise, why would've they abandoned me?"
She took another shot of wine and creased her forehead in disgust,
"And do you know what irks me the most? I freaking look like them...like a xerox copy, yet those people... they didn't recognize me. How pathetic!!!! You should at least know how your unwanted child looks like,"
She looked at the sky and tried to control the tears waiting to roll down.
"Otherwise how are they going to avoid me if they ever happen to come face to face with me?"
Thinking about the experience of meeting her parents, tears began to roll down from her amber eyes.
However, she immediately wiped the tears and plastered a smile on her face.
"Dan...that crazy guy...he thinks that I'm crying over some random guy. Not just a random guy, but my ex-boyfriend,"
She broke into a burst of laughter.
“Boy friend....No way..I’ve never associated with myself with men,”
The night has turned colder as she drank the entire bottle while having a conversation with an imaginary Sicily Baker.
After a while, she could feel her heavy eyelids drooping down as if it is indenting her to sleep.
"Mrs Baker, I should sleep now or else we will be able to meet very soon in the afterworld,"
She yawned and turned towards her left side, facing the balcony of the neighbouring pent house.
All of sudden, her eyes heavy eyelids jolted awake and she froze at the spot.
In the faint light, a pair of obsidian eyes were staring at her,
The gaze was so sharp that it could pierce through one's soul.
Across her balcony, stays a man, hooded in all black like a grim reaper.
Even under the dimmed lights, his towering figure and sharp facial features were enough to tell that he is exceptionally good looking.
Why does he look so familiar? She thinks for a moment and the realization hits her hard in the head,
It was the same man who pushed her from the building.
The one who tries to murder her countless times in her nightmares,
Who is he? The devil or a grim reaper who came to collect her soul?
"Sasha," His deep and profound voice reached her ears, sending chills down her spine.
"I don't want to die today," Sasha muttered as she tried to broke the eye contact. However, under the starry night, his dark eyes glistened like flame stones and his stare was so overbearing that she had no other choice but to remain petrified in her spot.
"Sasha Amber Reagan," He called her again,
As she heard him calling her name for the second time, the hears on the back of her neck stood in horror.
As per the myth, when the grim reaper calls a human's name three times, the soul leaves the body and follows him inevitably.
"You cannot take me...I will not come with you," Sasha frantically said as she sensed that her legs are turning jelly.
"I am...not...dying...today," All of sudden, her gorgeous amber coloured pupils rolled upwards and soon after, her frail form collapsed onto the floor.
