Clash of monsters

His whole body, overwhelming and monstrous, was opalescent white. Effigies and emblems were engraved on it. He was in the form of a mutilated quadruped whose thought and essence must have suited this image perfectly.

And as the prince says so well, his power found an equal if not his master.

And their battle was as good as their power. It took only minutes for nothing to remain of the titanic ship, so brutal and masterful was their exchange that it equaled near-planetary destruction. Incredible stellar power versus limitless dark magic. At their resplendent touch, everything shattered and fell into nothingness. Avine had no means, not even enough magic to help her savior in this giant, war-like battle. Enclosed in a huge sphere of glittering dust, she could only watch him fight for their lives, and dedicate all her thoughts to him.

At that moment, the young spectator finally understood her mother, and her unparalleled passion for these beasts and their protection. One could only be so dedicated to one thing in life. A terrible destiny.

And when she saw Hogul get up quietly, and gather with his last forces some fragments of metal to form an iron blade with the obvious intention to throw it towards the prince, who was totally absorbed in his endless fight, Avine knew that it was for this moment that the destiny had decided for her to stay. It was time for her to act. So she got out of her dusty sphere and made her way as best she could towards that other disgusting monster. As she gently approached her devious foe, Avine summoned her magic, and just as the petty leader, standing at death's door, was about to throw the metal dagger at the prince, Avine stepped in, and received the blade in her shoulder.

The prince saw the whole scene and screamed.

- No! Princess!

- You little pain in the ass!" Hogul shouted in desperation. I should have killed you, not brought you here! Women do nothing but ruin everything! You are filthy.

Despite the efforts of the wounded, and her resistance to keep the blade, the lost king managed to pull it out of her wound with the intention of using it again against the prince. Immediately, an incurable weakness took possession of the fragile body of the girl and she let herself go on the ruined ground.

- Here, let you make. The king coaxed her with fury. I will eliminate this prince you love so much and you will follow me both.

- No, I won't let you do it. Avine protested anyway, although she was unable to move.

But she had given the prince enough time to run. Fortunately, he arrived just as Hogul, seeing that he could not yet reach the latter, tried to pierce the girl with his blade, but this time in the heart. The prince snatched her from the mortal hands of his enemy, before propelling the latter in an astronomical blast, which destroyed him in a firework, more powerful than the one that had imprisoned the young magician in the black market.

The warrior strongly tightened Avine in his arms, the altered face.

- Ah princess, what have you done?

The princess smiled at him, happy.

- I had to protect you in my turn.

- I see, one would probably never know what would have happened otherwise. He acknowledged, grateful.

He had once again managed to save her with greatness. The girl thought. It had become almost a habit. But unfortunately, this act was going to cost his unknown hero a lot. For the white beast with monstrous power took advantage of this rescue to send a destructive blast on the young couple. And undoubtedly, the prince did not have enough foresight to erect a barrier. He could do nothing but protect her with his body. Although Avine felt the blast, she was not injured or hurt in any way. But her stranger was more than touched. She felt in her own flesh and soul his bruises. His blood leaving his body and spilling everywhere, hurt her more than anything else.

- Prince. Avine murmured in awe.

- Do not worry, it will be fine. he tried to reassure her.

- But you're hurt!

- If only you knew. The prince retorted, mocking his pain. I've been through so much in my life that all these injuries don't really mean anything anymore.

The prince put the girl down to face his illustrious opponent. Lying on the cold ground, trying to follow the titanic fight, it soon gave way, like the rest of the ship, and fell. Avine felt herself wobbling and then being dragged into the void with the debris of the fallen palace.

She was never to know how the century-long battle ended, the only thing she could remember clearly was her dizzying fall to the gaseous hypogeum of that dead planet among the rubble of a doomed ship. Then an unparalleled dazzle of infinite stars spilling over her and from which the prince sprang to catch her.

But Avine's burning tears soon flowed and joined space, becoming glittering dust among the stellar dust, as she saw the blood of her prince flow like raindrops, and fall among avalanches of shards and fragments.

She felt his hands soon catching her and surrounding her. He quickly invoked his magic to stop their fall. The sensation of the star cloak closing in on them irradiated the heart of the young survivor.

- Prince I'm so tired. She said to him gently while snuggling up to him.

- It is normal. Now it is necessary to sleep.

- I must return to Venèzie, my friends await me there. She continued however.

- Don't worry, I'll take care of everything. You'll find them safe and sound and you'll return home safely.

Avine smiled at her again.

- Thank you, I'm glad. But how tiring it must be to have to do this every day, when you are not.

- You have no idea.

He smiled back at the beautiful kolodian and lowered himself. A kiss in an ocean of stars. In the end, Avine thought, it wasn't the place that mattered. Nor the time, but only the person. But this incomparable embrace, which she wished would last forever, was not meant to last. For it was written that it had to be otherwise.

So when the kiss ended and Avine looked at him one last time, she thought that nothing could be more beautiful. Then she finally closed her eyes and let sleep take her.

- Prince...my name is...

- Hush, it's not important now. Sleep now, princess. I hope you have sweet dreams.
