Chapter 152- Chess Pieces

When they had separated in the tunnel after being surrounded by the giant rats, they didn't split off just to cover more ground and search for the death worms. It only looked that way to deceive Theo since he was the test directors' agent.

Instead, they decided to complete two different objectives.

The first one was to find and capture any death worm to pass the test, which the responsibility fell upon Liu Guanyi since Adori and Xin knew that not only he was the strongest but he was also the one with the most comprehensive capabilities. This was a fact and Adori wasn't stubborn or prideful enough to not admit the clear difference between them.

The second one was to go to the center of the earthquake to find anything that was suspicious on the scene. The avalanche wasn't caused by a natural issue since it only affected certain areas that were marked to be their route.

If they had found any evidence that could lead to the tunnel collapse, that would certainly be worthy of their time.

Although they didn't directly converse the plan, they had developed a strong mutual understanding among themselves, especially between Liu Guanyi and Adori since they were both smart people so communicating things subtly was easy with time, they had been together more than three decades, after all.

After talking and having some chit-chat, securing and confining the death worm with powerful shinsu barriers to make sure it wouldn't be able to escape, they had some dinner and finally went to their own respective rooms to call it a day.

Adori closed the door of her room, placed her sword beside the nightstand, and let herself plop gently into the bed. Looking at the white ceiling with a small chandelier hanging on it, she began to daydream and become engrossed with her thoughts.

Her journey in climbing the tower was pretty eventful, definitely much more than what Adori had initially expected. Also, it wasn't boring at all and was quite enjoyable instead. She had only planned to go along with the waves but after she spotted a boat, she was tempted to try it and so she did.

However, the small boat that Adori had found out at the beginning was something more than met the eye and actually turned out to be a gigantic ship that could conquer the ocean.

Ironically, even after knowing this, she still took on board even after she understood that a storm could occur and sink the ship along with her.

"Visible Mode." Adori muttered softly as an exquisite-looking rectangular object appeared floating next to her.

It looked stylish and modern with descriptive details on its exterior as there were many blue lines and red ornaments that complimented each other. Its size was almost two meters long and around one meter wide, making it quite big.

This was "Carrier", an extremely rare item that was said to be only ten of them existed in the whole tower and Adori managed to get her hands on one. To be honest, she had somewhat taken a liking to the device since it looked quite nice.

Different from what most would guess, but no, Adori didn't actually get it from the Zahard family. She obtained it from winning the final Workshop Battle a dozen years earlier. Since the other team ran away, their team was instantly declared the winner by the rules.

To reward her without sending an item that was too good for a free win, the host at the time, Uno, decided to give this piece of B-ranked item as the reward.

Yes, it was easy to guess from his action that although it was B-ranked and there were only ten of them out there, seven B-ranked carriers and three A-ranked carriers, carriers weren't worth much in spite of their extremely limited quantity.

It was due to the fact that carriers themselves almost served no purpose other than being an accessory and collection.

Their design and purpose were actually very good at first, it was to combine the function of a pocket, lighthouse, and "Pipe", a device that was to carry spears for the spear bearers, into a single device that could do all of their jobs.

However, it was due to the ambition of the project itself that made it a failure.

Combining those features didn't work pretty well as their practical functions and efficiency fell off far behind each of the individual devices themselves so the Workshop only produced those ten and stopped producing carriers from then on.

Adori touched the carrier and casually navigated with one of her hands through the list of people listed on the device. She stopped at a certain number and pressed on it to dial it up as she waited for the person to respond.

Seconds passed slowly as Adori calmly waited until a clicking sound was heard coming from the carrier that reverberated clearly in the pin-drop quiet room.

"Ah, princess Adori, I wasn't expecting you. What do I owe you favor?" A deep masculine voice with a casual tone sounded from the other end.

"Have you looked over the things that I have sent over and watched the videos?" Asked Adori.

"Hm… pardon me princess, but I haven't looked at any of them at all. I am a bust person, after all so I hope you understand me, princess." The voice answered offhandedly as if he didn't care at all.

"I expected so. Then go and some of them, it won't take long of your precious time or you will most likely regret it later on if you don't." Said Adori with a calm and confident voice as if she had been expecting his response a long time ago.

"Hmm, alright. I'll give it a go since it's you, princess Adori."

The carrier was silent for a few minutes before a voice finally came through it once again.

"Interesting… as expected of you, your highness. It seems that the rumors of your incredible talents aren't merely empty words." The voice spoke slowly. However, there was a sudden change in his tone as a hint of respect and amusement could be felt from it.

"So, are you now interested in what I am about to say?"

"Certainly, your highness. I am all ears." Said the voice with a more polite tone.

"Then listen properly, as I will only say it once." Adori said with a calm yet commanding voice.
