Casualties Of War

Ding!"+600 000 points"

Honestly, Kentaro didn't care about the points right now. Him and his thirty eight brethren were running towards Hayakama village.

"Kentaro, slow down for God's sake. We are tired and injured from the battle!" a Fujimoto exclaimed.

Kentaro slowed down a bit, the more he thought about Todo and his family, the more his nervousness grew.

"I suggest we take a rest and drink some water. The village is three kilometers further and we have injured people, Kentaro."

Habiki had noticed that they departed very quickly from the castle town in the direction of the village without having put bandages on their injuries.

But now it was way too much, they had to rest.

"Habiki, I am in charge here. If I haven't given the orders then nobody shall rest!"

Stopping in his run while grabbing and pulling on Kentaro's arm, Habiki expressed his dissatisfaction.

"Listen! I know that you surely know people from the village, but our men are more important! So stop acting childish and act like a good leader, because YOU are in charge like you said it yourself."

Kentaro stayed silent and looked at all his brethren. Indeed, they were injured and tired, they had fought the whole night after all.

"Very good, rest yourselves. I..... I am sorry."

Everybody sat down, they began drinking water and bandaging their injuries.

"Kentaro sit down and heal yourself."

Kentaro sat down next to Habiki, he drank water and bandaged the cut on his forearm.

"We must invade the south tomorrow and not in three days."

Kentaro didn't understand Habiki's suggestion.

"Three days is perfect. It gives time to the Kusa clan to prepare the invasion and it gives us extra time to rest."

Habiki shook his head showing his disagreement.

"Haven't you heard what the uchiha said while fleeing? They will notify their clan leader, Madara uchiha is not someone to be trifled with. Three days is too much, because knowing the uchiha, they will not leave us be. Three days gives them the time to come here and attack us."

Kentaro looked weirdly at Habiki, as if he didn't understand what he was saying.

"It seems like in the four years that you were away from our clan, you have become much stronger. But your tactical mind has stayed poor. Just do what I say, when we go back to the castle town, you will tell lord Kusa that the invasion will happen tomorrow."

Kentaro nodded his head.

They stayed there for one hour, they greatly recuparated their energy in comparison to one hour ago. It was time to go to Hayakama village.

Running faster than before, they arrived after twenty minutes.

They only saw ruines. The smoke was always in the air, testifying that this happened hours ago.

"Before attacking us, they have destroyed this place." Habiki had seen a lot of scenes like this.

Kentaro didn't know what to think, he approached slowly from the village. The smell of smoke had an aroma to it.

"I.. it's the smell of burned flesh."

Kentaro knew the smell, because it was present on the battlefield when his grandfather had burned the Kaguya with his fire style.

He entered, but the smell only grew bigger. He almost vomited, looking at his right he saw something horrible.

"What.... How..... Poor souls... Euuuuuh"

Kentaro vomited because of the accumulation of what he smelled and particularly what he just saw.

Corpses were piled up togheter and burned to crisp, they were unrecognizable.

Wiping his mouth with his hand, Kentaro diverted his gaze to not see the pile of burned corpses.

Walking towards Todo's house, he saw that it too was burned down. He noticed a big broken piece of wood.

The piece of wood was covering a corpse, it was a little corpse. Kentaro walked towards the piece of wood and put it aside.

The corpse was now visible to Kentaro. It made him fall to his knees because this corpse was Ryu.

Taking Ryu in his arms Kentaro began sobbing.

"Ryu, please talk to me. Please talk, boy."

The other clan members had also entered the village, they were taken aback by such cruelty.

Habiki saw Kentaro sobbing while hugging and talking to Ryu, he decided to leave him be.

Kentaro called himself down, but tears were still flowing out of his eyes. He approached very closely to Ryu's face and whispered in his ears.

"Do not worry Ryu, I will seek revenge for you. I will make them pay for what they have done to you and your family. Rest in peace Ryu, as I will take care of everything."

Kentaro hugged Ryu's dismembered corpse while showing no signs to stop. The rest of the clan began cleaning the place up, burying the burned corpses.

It was very disturbing to them, how could shinobi do this to innocent folk. Children and old people had nothing to do in the war, so why kill them in the most cruel way, by burning them?

It only angered them the more they thought about it.

"Habiki, from all the corpses we have been able to identify, they were all males. We think that they kidnapped all the girls and woman to their headquarters."

Habiki nodded to the clan member's information.

"I thought the same. Those Kaguya are real barbarians, they should be wiped out!"

One by one they had to move the corpses outside of the village, creating holes was an easy task as they were earth style users.

It took three hours to remove them and bury them outside of the village, they also placed all the broken and burned pieces of wood in great holes.

"We are done here, where is Kentaro?" asked Habiki

"I have seen him exit the village from the other side, there." the clan member pointed towards a direction.

It was opposite of where they were right now, at least one hundred meters further.

"I will go bring him here, you guys sit down and wait for us." Habiki was going to get Kentaro.

On top of a little hill, Kentaro had made a stone pillar. This was where he had buried Ryu.

He had found a little flower in the grass fields and put it next to the pillar.

He was on his knees with his hands together in a praying position putting them against his forehead.

"Kentaro, It is time to go."

Putting his hands down on his knees, Kentaro turned his head to look at Habiki. His eyes were bloodshot and his gaze was ferocious.

"YES, IT IS TIME TO GO."
