Hugh hesitated for a moment, then seeing him walk down the stairs and head this way, he finally spoke—
"Brother-in-law..."
Landon listened, a faint curve flickering across his lips, his gaze peaceful as he sat down on the sofa beside Hugh.
"Take a seat too. You're not seriously hurt, are you?"
Landon asked with concern, his eyes falling on Hugh's hand.
Only then did Hugh sit down, replying, "It's nothing, just a small cut. I got a couple of stitches, just had the bandage changed, and the doctor said it's healing well. I should be able to get the stitches out in a couple of days."
Hugh's voice was light, and at this moment his dark eyes also held a scrutinizing sharpness as he faced Landon directly.
"Wesley Duke is a brash young scion of the Cascade, and he's arrogant in his everyday affairs. If you encounter such a situation again, there's no need to panic or be afraid. Just ensure your own safety first; everything else is secondary," Landon said evenly.
