Crazy?

The next morning, Callie began to wake as the sound of birds tickled her ears. She groaned and turned over. She didn’t want to wake up just yet. It felt good to just sleep in such softness. “Rise and shine, lazybones.”

Callie pulled the blanket over her face to block out the irritating voice. “Go away,” she mumbled into the softness.

A laugh made her pause. That wasn’t her mother’s voice. That wasn’t even Jasper’s voice. Who was in her bedroom?

Callie sat up and looked around wildly. Where was she? Why was Jardan there? Like a freight train, her memories slammed into her. She shook her head. The foggy feeling fled and left her with confusion and apprehension again.

“Remembering things?” Jardan asked as he handed her a cup of coffee.

She nodded and held the cup under her nose. Breathing in the rich aroma, she tried to get her mind to calm down and think through it all.
