Callie shook her head and joined him on the floor. “So if this is so reinforced, why a dirt floor?”
“There is a marble one underneath about seven feet down. Allows for storage in case of an emergency.” Jardan opened up the first box and pulled out wrapped sandwiches and chips along with a few pickle spears. The other container held sodas and wrapped cookies. “Not traditional breakfast, but easy to grab and store.”
“How long have they been down there?” She looked doubtfully at the wrapped food.
Jardan laughed. “They are protected by the wards here. Mom changes them out every few weeks, but they are as fresh as when they were put in here. The earth freezes the disintegration.”
“I don’t think my stomach cares.”
Opening a wrapped sandwich, she peered intently at it. Without seeing anything revolting, she bit into the ham and cheese sandwich. It tasted great and as fresh as Jardan had indicated. She thought she’d never get used to the powers around her.
