The next morning, Callie and Jardan ate breakfast with the others who had come into the Sanctuary for protection. The noise around the area was deafening after several days of just the two of them. Callie found herself missing that time.
The two sequestered themselves in the training room in the morning. The rest were told it was off limits especially with Callie still learning the extent of her power. This gave Callie the ability to let it loose when she needed to and for experimentation without gawking eyes.
When they broke for lunch, Callie found Indigo sitting on the steps. She smiled at Callie.
“Impressive!” Indigo stood up and walked down the rest of the steps. A cloth bag was clutched in one hand.
Callie wiped the sweat from her forehead. “Are you sure frightening is not a better word?”
Indigo’s smile wavered. “I’m sure. Jardan, do you mind heading on up. I’d like to have lunch with Callie.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Jardan gave Callie’s arm a squeeze and left the room.
