One day, the United Nations announces that mankind would be ushering in a new era for human evolution. Advanced technology had been found on Mars, a secret kept to this day. Research had been carried out to use science to augment human evolution.

All of mankind can now evolve themselves by partaking in this VR experience using the freely distributed VR headset.

Xu Jingming nodded. "Aren't you afraid of the calamity?"

"Planetary lifeforms like us have short lifespans, and a calamity only happens every 10,000 years or so. People just blame it on their bad luck to encounter one." Qiu Qingke thought nothing of it. "In this world, we can encounter criminal gang members on the streets walking. The probability of being killed by them is much higher than encountering a calamity."

Xu Jingming was slightly stunned. Is this what ordinary people think?

"Oh, I've reached Lv. 5." Qiu Qingke suddenly came to a realization. "I'm about to become a cosmic lifeform."

"Then, are you still afraid of the calamity?" Xu Jingming asked.

"What's the point of being afraid? I heard that it's unavoidable. Any part of the Ansu Star Alliance might encounter a calamity. It's useless even if we escape to other Star Alliances," Qiu Qingke said.
