Captain Bumyen

The sound of loud birdsong was heard in the middle of the ocean. A merchant ship carrying goods sailed towards the nearest land. The ship's captain gave an intrusion to unfurl the sails. They need a stronger wind push to get to their destination quickly.

"Captain, there's a letter from Princess Tang."

The thin mustachioed man with long, long hair took an envelope from his servant's hand.

"Go back to work."

"Yes, Captain."

The single most respected man on the ship walked towards his room. He was so happy to get a letter from the person he loved. For a year he went from China to travel to several regions of the world. He goes on business and meets important people every time he stops by their area. But it does not make him forget the love he lives in his place of origin.

"Kian," he called. He opened the envelope. A line of mandarin letters greeted him. It didn't take long to make the Captain smiled.

The wind whispered to me every full moon. It's got my face somber because of you. Dry foliage is crimped when I step on. They sing me songs, but not as loud as the sound of your steps. Now, when spring comes, birds chirping give me warmth in silence in a pitch afternoon. You're coming, says the letter was written under the pigeon's feet.

Captain Bum held back a smile just by reading tang eng's scratches. He re-read the contents of the letter after controlling himself so as not to look like a madman.

I'm absolutely sure of the promise you made. You're going to pick me up, take me, and start all our stories from scratch. I have always believed that, and may Allah set your intentions straight. I'm waiting for you, Bumyen.

Bumyen placed a letter from Tang onto his desk. He sat on a chair. Bumyen--the dashing young man with white skin stared at tang paintings that were beautifully displayed filling the walls of the workspace as well as his resting place.

"Kian, I'll pick you up." Bumyen missed Tang Eng Kian very much. The days where they spent time together running by the beach. Tang was no ordinary girl. It took a very long time to meet that girl.

"Captain!"

Bumyen stared at his crew who came to the ground carrying an ax.

"What's wrong?"

“An intruder, Captain! He's in the food supply room. Chef Lee has tied him down there!"

Intruders are a serious threat that must be addressed immediately. Bumyen never messed around with his enemies. They're annoying, that means they're flying the war flag!

Bumyen followed in the footsteps of his crew. He went down the stairs, then stopped right after seeing a woman in shabby clothes tied to a pole.

" Have you gotten any information from him?"

The crew of bumyen—especially those working at the bottom—shook their head together. "We don't understand what language he's in, Captain."

Bumyen winced. He walked up to a woman who was accused of being an intruder. His hair was messy, he looked down lethargic like a starving person. His mouth was held-- because he had made a lot of noise.

"Hey."

After freeing the girl's mouth, Bumyen changed to look at each inch of the face in front of her. The intruder looked up a little. Bumyen raised the intruder's head which seemed to cover who he was. Large round eyes with a petite nose became the woman's trademark. Her big eyes look very lethargic when she meets bumyen.

"I'm not a bad person, sir!" The girl had sharp vocal cords even though her lips were dry. "My name is Zahra, and I don't understand what you're saying."

"Are you from the Malay nation?" Bumyen still didn't take his hand off the intruder's cheek. Her slightly brown skin was in stark contrast to Bumyen's clean white skin.

"Yes! And I'm Indonesian. I don't speak Mandarin."

The experience as a wanderer allowed Bumyen to speak several languages. But he had just heard the language the girl was saying. Just like Malay, but quite different in its pronunciation.

"Take him to my office."

The crew was shocked. They throw a look at each other. Not understanding why Such a brave Bumyen brought the intruder into such an important place to him.

"What are you waiting for?! Get him!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Bumyen left the intruder. He waited for his workers to take the woman into his private room. The woman's height was even limited to her chest. Looking at him physically, Bumyen doubted if the woman was really an intruder.

Moreover, with a different way of speaking than most people. Only this time Bumyen knew Malay with such pronunciation. It's also a place called Indonesia.

"Captain, we'll come in."

“Yes."

The woman was seated in front of Bumyen. His hands were still tied, her clothes were so shabby with their hair unraveled.

"You're the only one who understands my language. Only you can help me here."

Bumyen didn't know what the woman in front of him meant. She still looks very young. Maybe he's still about twenty less. This further adds to his conclusions about the woman.

"Zahra, you... want to eat?"

Zahra nodded. Bumyen stood up to bring the woman some fruits. Because Zahra's hands were bound, Bumyen was forced to feed the woman in front of him.

"How long have you been on my ship?"

Zahra shook her head while chewing her food. "I don't know. I was even surprised to find out I was here."

Bumyen laughed at the reason for not entering from Zahra's mouth. He let the girl fill her stomach first. Al-Bumyen was very anti-enemy, but he still had a human side to his enemies.

"You are very good!" Zahra smiled after finishing all of Bumyen's fruits.

"Shouldn't goats be fed a lot before slaughter?"

"You mean, you're going to slaughter me?!"

Bumyen placed his forefinger on the chin. He winced as he stared at Zahra's body from the bottom up.

"Very suitable!"

Zahra was caught. She's still confused about what's going on in her life. How did she end up on a ship? And why could she get carried away by a ship filled with people who spoke Mandarin?

"Eating human flesh is haram, you know!"

"Who wants to eat your meat? I'd rather give it to the shark."

"Killing is also illegal!"

"When did I ever say I wanted to kill you?"

"You talking about a goat and then, something you wanna hurt me like a goat?!"

"You liken yourself to a goat? Aaahh, or are you tired of being human and want to be a goat?"

"Aaarrgghh! No!"

If Zahra's hands were not tied, she would have grabbed her hair. The captain called Bumyen was like the most annoying person he had ever met.

"You are perfectly suited to be my servant."

"Huh, waitress?! Eh Captain whose hair has never been trimmed, I'm a high school student who is still active in school! And now I'm stuck here. Also, don't ask me why and how I got on this ship!"

Bumyen folded his hands. He sat on the table staring at Zahra's big round eyes. Her tiny but contained lips folded in. He enjoyed Zahra's annoyed face. Even if the language sounds strange and a little foreign, Bumyen can still understand what she is saying.

"You want to be my servant or my prisoner?" Bumyen made an offer. Zahra still put on an upset face seeing the person acting in front of her.

"Can you please untie me? You can be detained by the police for violence against minors!"

"Policeman? What is that?"

"Seriously?! You don't know what the police are?"

Bumyen was silent. He pulled Zahra's chin. "Stop talking is unclear. I will send you into a holding cell if you still don't obey my orders."

"I speak very clearly!"

"Chan!" Bumyen called someone's name. Shortly after, a man younger than her came carrying a sword placed next to his hips.

Zahra swallowed her saliva by force. He's scared! The people around him looked so old-fashioned and aggressive. Even Bumyen who had once been calm to her turned cruel by gripping Zahra's face so strongly.

"Captain Bum? Why did you bring this girl into your office?"

"It doesn't matter what the reason is. Now, take this girl off my ship!"

"Go?"

"Throw her out to sea!"

Zahra squealed. She shook his head repeatedly, but Bumyen ignored his attitude. Chan--Bumyen's confidant initially fell silent on the spot. But it didn't take long for him to obey Bumyen's orders.

"Please, please! Don't do this to me!”

Bumyen didn't care about Zahra's words. Even when she rebelled in Chan's hands. He didn't want to take his time to take care of the girl. Whether an intruder or a spy, the girl was nothing more than an ordinary woman in his eyes. But unfortunately, Bumyen didn't want to take any chances. So, he better throws the girl in the middle of the ocean. If he's lucky, maybe someone will save him.
