Chapter 10! Untitled!

[Ring! Ring! Ring!]

Milady's hands fumbled for a while on the bedside cabinet before locating her cell phone to switch it off. However, when she groggily opened her eyes in an attempt to cut the call, she accidentally picked it up only to hear a loud and excited scream that threatened to destroy her eardrums from the other end. Angela screamed so loud that Milady decided to mute the phone before throwing it onto the bed with her eyes closed to continue her beauty sleep.

On the other end, Angela continued to express her joy over passing the selection for Billy's Chambers until she realised there was no response from Milady's end which wasn't strange actually but, rather meant one thing, Milady slept off while she was rambling on and on. She nearly slammed her phone against the wall but the little bit of rationality she had left prevented her from doing so. Gritting her teeth, Angela redialed the number only to realise the line had been switched off. Milady on the other hand slept like there was no tomorrow.

There was nothing she was looking up to anyway.

At Crawford Chambers, even though the contest organiser, Sherry Hills called Milady for the umpteenth time and received the same response of the phone is off, she dared not stop calling.

Remembering her boss' words, she knew her job was on the line if she didn't get Milady Gaya on board. Not that she was worried though.

Walking into the premises of Crawford Chambers, Rockson Palmer was followed closely by a cautious Sherry Hills who was doing everything possible to minimise her presence. She even cursed herself inwardly for wearing high heels that kept clanking with every step she took.

Taking his seat calmly before her was a man who looked as flawless as the last time she could remember. Looking at him, who is about 6.5 ft tall with blue eyes and dark brown hair, Sherry was momentarily lost in beauty while forgetting her woes at the same time that she did not notice the sly and contemptuous look her boss was currently giving her.

Suppressing the anger threatening to consume him, Rockson demanded in a very calm voice "there is no need to submit your resignation to me personally Miss Hills. You can find your way around. I won't walk you to the door." Sherry jerked her head up looking dumbfounded at her boss and said with her most beautiful smile "even if I die, my ghost will remain at your side my dearest..."

"Out of my office " was the only response she got from Rockson.

Replying with the most beautiful smile she could muster, Sherry said in a very cheerful voice "so boring" then raised her voice further to say "you will have news later in the day. Even I will choose to sleep in if I were in her shoes."

With that said, she turned around and left without the slightest hesitation or giving her boss a second look." Rockson could only shake his head and sigh in exasperation as he watched Sherry walk out of his office and couldn't help the words "ever so childish" from escaping his lips.

Anything that concerns Milady becomes a top priority for Rockson Palmer so much so that he tends to forget his secretary is stuck with him forever until she chooses to leave on her own maybe. She can never be fired. How troublesome. Who could believe Rockson Palmer will also have a day that he has no choice.

Meanwhile, Milady woke up around 9:45 am, feeling refreshed and quite reluctant to part with her bed. After doing her morning rituals, she turned on her phone to order breakfast and lunch from a restaurant across the street where she lives, intending to spend the whole day lazying at home.

Upon switching on her phone, Milady nearly dropped it out of shock. There were too many missed calls and messages that she was tempted to recheck whether she was holding her phone or accidentally switched it for someone else's. The most eye-catching of all the messages was one she saw from Angela congratulating her for joining Crawford Chambers. Another eye-catching one was from a strange number inviting her to Crawford Chambers at 10:00 am. What's going on here?

Milady rubbed her eyes twice to be double sure she wasn't missing anything. Confirming that everything was really on her phone and she was the right recipient, she jumped to her feet and rushed to check her closet for appropriate clothes to match the occasion, totally forgetting her hunger.

That was when it dawned on her that she didn't even know what exactly she was going to do at Crawford Chambers. Only that a Sherry Hills is awaiting her arrival. Realising that there was not any detail about the meeting, she chose to look formal for the occasion, just maybe Crawford Chambers may still be interested in her after all her rejections. Well, it could be in her wildest dreams though, but still, there is no harm in trying.
