The dead god Dalai and his curse to his people

Three days had passed since the battle. No one was in the mood to talk about it. Many of the grey skins started to fear Edward and they insisted that his sword should be taken away. Edward had grown very powerful and had many unresolved issues and even Rufus thought of him as a little unstable.

One night Edward was sitting alone outside after one of his training sessions late at night. Rufus came to Edward.

"How's it going?" Rufus asked.

"Not much I guess," Edward answered.

Both of them looked at the starry sky in silence.

"So you are not gonna give me some pep talk or something. Ask how I am trying to get inside my head or something," Edward asked with a snarky tone.

"Well...I was gonna. Don't feel like doing it anymore," Rufus said back.

Both of them were just sitting silently on the rock awkwardly.

"I promise that I will never lose my cool again," Edward said to Rufus.

"I know," Rufus said.

".....thank you," Edward said and gave a small smile.

"Let's get back inside. I don't know how you feel, but I do know you at least feel hungry," Rufus said pulled Edward up.

After weeks the winter was starting to be over. You could hear birds chirping outside. People started to go outside more frequently.

Doreen came to the house after spending all day in the library. She looked confused. Her face was like she had read something she couldn't believe.

Amala came soon to the house also.

"Tenzin wants to talk to you. All four of you," Amala said to all of them.

Amala took the four of them to the tribal building. In there a serious a Tenzin waited for all of them. Amala left the four of them alone in the hall with Tenzin.

"It is time we talked. About the real reason, you are here. The grey skins have for a long time held resentment towards the humans. Not just humans of the Jacob kingdom, but against all the humans of the Aesis world. The reason for that is that we believe we are the original people of this world," Tenzin told to them.

"What do you mean original people?" Haley asked.

"That we are the original people of this world. That you humans are the ones who came later," Tenzin explained.

The four of them were very confused. It was considered a fact among the humans that the grey skins and humans were both the original inhabitants of Aesis.

"That is not true. Humans have inhabited this world for thousands of years," said Edward angrily.

"What does Doreen think?" Tenzin asked from Doreen.

Everyone looked at Doreen. Doreen was silent and biting her nail. She looked like she didn't disagree with Tenzin.

Tenzin took them all to the library of the tribal building.

"Here we have kept the records of both grey skins and humans. Might you Doreen tell what has been bothering your mind for the past days," Tenzin asked of Doreen.

"Well, I can't be sure. I can't much trust my translations and understandings of the grey skin texts. The human records here are only eight hundred years old. The grey skin records are at least two thousand," Doreen explained.

"That doesn't mean anything. Just because Jacob's kingdom has been bad at keeping records doesn't mean the other kingdoms and nations have also," Edward stated.

"Yes, but most nations and kingdoms also have a maximum of eight hundred-year-old pasts and records and no one knows of the history that happened before that," Doreen explained to all of them.

Everyone looked surprised and very confused. It was like learning almost that the sky wasn't blue and the sun didn't actually shine.

"We grey skins used to live all around the Aesis world and not just in the mountains, but also in the flatlands. We farmed the land, and our people didn't starve. We had large cities similar to the ones humans have now. Many different tribes and tribal federations ruled the world. Those times are known to us as our golden age.

Then you humans came. Eight hundred years ago you humans sailed here with a large fleet of gravity ships. Hundreds of gravity ships flew here bringing thousands upon thousands of humans here from an unknown world. The first thing the humans did was destroy their gravity ships ensuring and signaling they were here to stay. Among them came something terrifying also. Strong humans with immense divine powers. Among them was for example the first kings of the human nations," Tenzin explained the history of the Aesis world.

"Then that means Franz Jacob and the very first Plangent was also among those humans," Edward said shocked

"We were not afraid at first. We had our god to defend us. The great Dalai. He had ruled us and protected us for a thousand years. An immensely strong god, but an extremely paranoid god. Dalai saw these humans as the enemy of his people. The humans were refugees, but from where has been lost to time. We are not sure but many have told us that their memories were wiped after they had landed on our world.

The human refugees just wanted to live in peace and create new homes, but Dalai saw them still as a threat. He destroyed one of the human refugee colonies killing all the inhabitants what was the catalyst for war. Dalai had the power to topple mountains and cause tidal waves, but the humans also were very well experienced in war.

The war was bloody on an unimaginable scale that lasted for fifty years. Eventually at the deciding battle Dalai was slain by the first kings of the human kingdoms. From then on the humans had the upper hand. As revenge for all the destruction, the Dalai had caused the humans started to cleanse the Aesis world from all grey skins. The humans called it Dalai's curse to his people.

All the tribes from the flatlands were destroyed. The only tribes that were able to resist the human invasions and destruction were the ones in these mountains. They tried for tens of years to get rid of us for all, but we were able to push them back time after time. Slowly the invasions stopped and the humans even forgot they came there as refugees to the world Aesis in the beginning.

Soon we were scavenging food and started to go on raids to supply our people. The long dream of grey skins has always been to reclaim our land back, but we know how strong your kingdoms are. We hold no chance of occupying any lands outside the mountains. The other kingdoms would burn it down, but apparently, there is a chance for a new ruler in the Jacob kingdom.

I would want this new ruler to allow us and humans to coexist. We even heard that the people of Jacob kingdom are chanting a person's name who they wish to become the king and to save them," Tenzin explained the history of the grey skins and the forgotten origin of the humans on the Aesis world.

They all were thinking of prince Markus. No one was sure would he accept them to live in the kingdom.

"If you aid my prince he will let you live in the low lands again," Doreen said proudly thinking that he meant the prince.

"The rumors are not of a prince who would be a new ruler, but a legendary gang boss who has gone missing. A gang boss who goes by the name Rufus," Tenzin said.
