Unlikely friends

Gwon was walking through the hallways and corridors of the palace. He had been extremely bored for the last days and was feeding his curiosity by strolling around the palace

He entered a room and saw a small girl reading a book on her bed. It was Liana.

Liana was reading a children's picture book when she spotted Gwon in front of her. She screamed as Gwon had surprised her and he also stepped back startled from the yell.

Liana ran to the corner with a blanket covering herself with it. Gwon walked forward and picked up the book that Liana was reading. He couldn't read it but the pictures on the book intrigued him and he looked at Liana.

Gwon walked toward the girl while holding the book. He pointed at a text on the book and tapped on Liana's back. She lowered the blanket ever so slightly and saw that Gwon was also just a small child-like herself. Liana looked at Gwon who was frantically pointing at the texts and pictures on the book.

"You want me to translate that?" Liana asked.

Gwon just kept pointing at the text. Over the text was a picture of a lion that roared.

"The lion roared at the knights. He looked hungrily at them. His eyes looked evil as he was about to attack the knights," Liana read from the books.

Gwon pointed at the lion.

"What is this, what is this?" Gwon yelled and pointed at the lion in grey skin language.

She realized that he didn't speak any human and wanted to know what was the lion called in the human tongue.

"Lion."

"Laion."

"Lion."

"Lion."

"That's it. Very good," Liana said and smiled.

Gwon smiled back with a very wide smile. He started to go through the book and pointed at different pictures with Liana naming it and Gwon repeating it. They went through the book together with Liana reading the book to Gwon even though he didn't understand a word of the story. He looked at the book with star-spangled eyes and Liana calmly and happily read it to him.

The book came to an end with a picture of a knight standing on top of the lion that lay dead on the ground. Gwon went quiet and just looked at the picture. It was visible that he was having a hard time with how the story ended.

Liana got up and went to the bookshelf. She took another picture book from the shelf and started to read it to Gwon to get his mind off the previous book.

Gwon happily looked and listened as Liana was reading the second book to him.

In one book it depicted a beautiful garden that was full of colorful flowers. Gwon pointed again at the picture wishing Liana to explain it.

"Flowers."

"Flouwers,"

After quickly reading the book Gwon looked and smiled and Liana. She didn't know what to think of it and just smiled back.

Gwon grabbed Liana from her hand and dragged her outside the room with her being hesitant. She felt afraid and didn't want to leave the room, but Gwon just dragged her out anyway.

Gwon jumped outside the window while dragging Liana with her. She screamed as they were falling loud as a hyena. Gwon grabbed Liana into a princess carry and hit the ground.

"Why you did that. stupid, stupid, stupid!" Liana yelled and punched Gwon with small and adorable fists.

Gwon looked confused as to why Liana was yelling at him. He pointed at the gardens of the palace. Liana saw that the gardens had all the same kind of flowers as the picture book. She had never been to the palace gardens even though she had lived in the palace all her life.

She looked at them all as Gwon was pointing at them and calling them "fluowers" as he had learned from Liana. She walked around the garden that had always been close but yet unreachable to him. She touched them and felt immensely happy like she had been liberated from prison.

Gwon sprayed water on her from the small fountain. He smiled and started to splash more on her and started to laugh. Liana started to get angry and started to splash water on Gwon as well.

The two of them looked like two normal children.

Rufus was walking along the corridors of the palace, with Doreen, Amala and Pema walking beside him. Rufus stopped and looked from the window into the garden. He saw Gwon and Liana playing in the garden and splashing water at each other. He couldn't help but smile looking at the two of them being like proper children. He decided to walk away letting them play without any disturbances.
