We also know how to hit under the belt

The imperial army was moving north towards the city of Melba. They continued their scorched earth tactic with the light cavalry and some officers continuing to destroy any village or town or force them to submit.

As the army of the empire was on the move, they heard loud explosions from far away. Then a whistling sound started to be heard, with Berig and Samanilde looking terrified. They yelled to their soldiers to take cover but they were out in the open.

Soon the shells of cannon fire hit the army. The shrapnel and the explosions caused havoc and destruction in mere seconds. The varangians, under the skillful leadership of their officers, went into looser formations. Still, even if they were able to minimize their damage, they still were out in the open for the artillery fire.

They were caught surprised since they believed they couldn't get their cannons in place and to be able to hit them before their army would have moved away.

"What the hell is going on?! They should not be able to hit us with their cannons," Samanilde yelled out.

"Well, they are obviously now doing it. Gadaric, get the Soul Watchers on top of that hill and destroy those cannons," Berig yelled and ordered Gadaric.

He immediately ran towards the hill with his assassins. They ran almost faster than a horse and quickly started to reach the top of the hill.

As they ran up, Erik was working as a guard. He then immediately rode fast with his marvelously fast steed with a couple of his soldiers.

At this moment Gadaric felt like something was off. He still with his Soul Watchers kept going forward like he was ordered.

When they reached the top they didn't see any cannons. The only thing they saw was black yaks far away towing four cannons away from the hill. With only four cannons at their disposal, they couldn't have caused much damage. It was now clear to Gadaric that this was just a distraction.

Gadaric then looked back toward the imperial army. A large contingent of black yaks had charged the imperial army's rear flank. With the Soul Watchers away, the royal cavalry was able to attack the enemy with ease without getting spotted.

All the leadership of the imperial army was at the front-rear of the vast force. For when they realized what had happened, it was already too late.

The black yaks were targetting the artillery of the imperials. They ran over the varangians with Rufus and Haley at the front.

Haley formed two crystal tridents that floated in the air. They started to twirl around like a woodchipper, cutting anyone who came close to her.

As one officer that had divinity, tried to stop her, she blocked first the attack with a crystal shield. She then decapitated the officer with her tridents that crisscrossed him.

Four Ghersengs were guarding Rufus as he was concentrating on trying to create the largest divine sphere he had ever done so far.

The two of them saw that Berig and Samanilde were getting close to them. They couldn't get bogged down in fighting in the middle of the enemy army with just a small portion of their army.

Haley created a large wall made from crystals that stopped Berig and Samanilde from aiding their rear on time. Rufus then threw a divine sphere at the artillery. It expanded over most of the cannons and then made them evaporate into thin air.

After the cannons had been destroyed, the black yaks retreated. Berig then crushed the crystal wall and ordered the cataphracts to go after them. These riders were faster and were able to catch up to the black yaks easily, but the royal army also came prepared for that as well.

The cataphracts gave chase, but their charge was cut short. Grey skins with bows led by Amala shot precise shots at the riders from the bushes. Also, a small group of the royal army shot volleys with the dokkaebi rifles.

Some cataphracts tried to force their way through the hellfire, but Amala shot a stone arrow at them. The arrow then got bigger mid-air and pierced four riders at once. These riders soon lost heart as they were stopped by the massive arrow and bullet fire.

No one could see Gadaric's face under his mask, but it was clear he was vexed. They had fooled him, but not just him, but also Berig, the first child in purple.
