King bows to no one so his people wouldn't have to bow to anyone else part 2

Rufus was thinking of his options. He deemed the emperor as immensely powerful, but he wasn't sure if he could trust him.

But this was a chance to ensure that his people and friends wouldn't have to experience any more horrors of war. He also thought about what would be the best for his people. Would they accept this emperor Ala as their new lord and bow before him?

"The emperor will take care of your people. The people of the empire prosper and are happy, with every harvest being bountiful thanks to a good crop yielding innovations. The trade laws benefit all and we keep our streets clean from criminals. We are harsh, but we are fair," Gadaric explained.

Rufus was thinking of doing it. He thought that he would lose all of his friends by accepting, but he was ready to do it to ensure their safety.

"You just have to bow in front of the emperor. That is all it takes," Gadaric explained.

"A king's job is not to bow to anyone. People bow to him and he makes sure that they don't have to bow to anyone else," a man yelled on top of a house.

Rufus looked behind and saw men cloaked in thick furs. These men wore thick animal fur cloaks with light armor covering their bodies.

Gadaric looked at Rufus and saw that they were clearly not with him.

Gadaric ordered his soul watchers to engage these sudden new people.

The men clothed in thick furs took out swords and went on all fours, like animals. It looked like a wolf pack was hunting down the assassins while they were jumping on the rooftops. They moved around like animals, using all of their limbs as feet. With beasts' ferocity, they were fighting the assassins and were not giving in an inch.

One assassin was able to strike one of these mysterious knights down, but the knight with his claw gauntlet ripped the assassin's armor off. These knights had gauntlets that had sharp claws, making them look even more like animals and beasts.

These men were a match in every way to the soul watchers. Gadaric was about to go fight these mysterious knights, but then the tall warrior with a curved blade came at him.

Gadaric dodged the man's slash by stepping back. The tall man then also went on all fours while carrying his blade on his back. His bones started to mold and change inside his body, turning him more animal-like. His spine cracked and bent with his rib cage getting bigger and wider. His eyes turned yellow with sharp teeth, replacing his normal ones. He then roared like a wild animal and charged with his large curved blade.

Gadaric dodged the attack and tried to blast him away with his sound blasts. The tall beast-like knight jumped around the air, making him a hard target.

As Gadaric was trying to get close, to make hitting him with his sound blasts easier, the beast knight tried to slash him with his claws and then attempted to even bite him. Gadaric then went back and realized that this person was too dangerous to be close to.

Gadaric then stared at Rufus who had yet to enter the battle himself. He remembered his initial plan was to kill him and knew that it was the only way to redeem this mission in the eyes of the emperor.

He readied to snap a sound blast at him, as Rufus was not ready to dodge anything. Before he could attack him, he thought otherwise and put his hand down.

The tall beast knight then ran at Gadaric, forcing him to escape. He could try and fight these new unknown enemies, but it had too many risks.

Gadaric then snapped his fingers in the air and signaled his assassins to disappear along with him. The beast-like knights stopped fighting except the largest of them all, who looked like he was ready to keep fighting.

"Maxim, calm down," the short man yelled who had not entered the battle.

The tall beast knight then calmed down and started to turn back again to his human posture, with his bones aligning back to normal.

Rufus was still confused, not knowing who these knights were. These unknown warriors looked at Rufus who was ready to fight them, but they didn't seem hostile. The small man was carried down by one of the knights covered in armor and fur.

He then walked toward Rufus with a bright smile. He was not much older than Rufus, being in his early twenties as well.

The other men bend their knees and lowered their heads as he took off his hood and showed his face to Rufus.

"Hello, my good king of Fairfax. My name is Ritter Aurelian, the king of the Aurelian kingdom," the young man said and helped Rufus up.
