New York City

It takes me nearly half an hour to get out of the suburbs and reach the main part of New York City. I climb up to the first apartment building's roof and collapse on my back. Despite already having taken a break before to recover my stamina, I am still exhausted from the constant web-swinging and climbing.

With my stamina nearly fully depleted, I will have to take a short break here before continuing on. For now, I take the time to fiddle with my system.

During my trip across the rooftops of the suburbs, I had leveled up my web-slinging skill four times while wall crawling leveled up a whole eleven times as I used that a lot more. Each time my web-slinging skill leveled up, I felt that the whole process became more natural and easy for me.

The stamina consumption going down doesn't hurt either.

What I'm really surprised about here is that none of my stats increased from this workout. Usually, in these kinds of systems, you could increase your stats by training.

[DING!]

[This feature has yet to be implemented into the system.]

Yeah, okay, should have seen that one coming from a mile away, nothing ever works in this system.

Next, I take a look at the radio system featured together with my suit. As soon as I put it on, a whole new window popped up in front of my eyes which I minimized earlier. Now bringing it up, I see several options on what I want to listen on in.

There are many podcasts, and radio shows that I don't recognize, but the one on top of the list is the daily bugle hosted by the arachnophobe, J. Jonah Jameson.

To be honest, I always thought that most claims the man makes about Spiderman are entirely valid. I'm not too sure about the comics, but at least in the spiderman games, I agreed with almost everything he said.

In addition to all sorts of radio channels that everyday people have access to, I can also listen in on private police channels, which will, without a doubt, help me find where crime is taking place and let me get there long before the police reach it.

While resting, I decide to tune in on the police channels and hear a few interesting names.

First is George Stacy, who I met earlier today, apparently he is currently heading to the exact neighborhood I just came from as some people called in to report a weird banging noise on their walls. That may or may not have been me slamming into their walls while learning to web sling and climb.

There is also another police captain called Yuriko Watanabe, who I mainly recognize from the video games but also recall her donning a costume in the comics and going by the name of Wraith. I don't recall if she was a hero or a villain, though, so I will try to keep a closer eye on her as I liked her in the games.

With my stamina fully recovered, I close the radio channels to focus on what's coming next. So far, I have been traversing between at most two-story buildings, but right now, I'm on top of an eight-story one, surrounded by similarly tall buildings.

I want to try out actual web swinging between some of these high-rise buildings but falling here would be much more devastating than in the suburbs.

Not that I really have a choice to turn back here, the system already told me that there is currently no feature to train my stats, and waiting for quests to level up is risky since I never know what kind of villains decide to go after me or attack the area I'm in for no particular reason.

I stand at the edge of the building, looking down to what could be a very hard fall. Not thinking about the possibility of me ending up as a corpse so soon after transmigrating, I take a leap of faith, jumping off the building.

After falling only a few stories, I manage to shoot a web at the building across the street, grabbing it with both hands, I hold on for dear life.

After a few seconds of falling, I start gaining some height but quickly realize I am approaching the wall and am about to hit it. I let go with one hand and aimed at another building across the street again, now grabbing onto that web with both hands as the previous one dissipates.

After repeating this process several times, I realize I have moved forward quite a bit. The whole experience is exhilarating but extremely stressful with my low stats. I have to hold on to the web with both hands, and my aiming speed just isn't up to snuff. Higher strength and dexterity stats would make this whole thing a lot easier.

Finally, I end my first web-slinging experience as I hit the wall of an apartment building. I promise you that was intentional. All I'm glad about is that I hit the brick wall rather than a window and crash into an unsuspecting family's home.

I scurry my way up to the roof and look back at the aerial path I just traversed. It may not be very long, at only around 50 meters, the length of one football field, but it certainly felt long.

From that first experience, my web-slinging skill skyrocketed up to level 10, showcasing how difficult that was. I'm glad most skills are leveling up much faster than Observe, which takes forever to gain XP.

Looking down at the streets, several people have stopped on their way to look up to the sky, and many even have their phones out. Perhaps I will see pictures of myself on the internet as early as tomorrow, no doubt people will be calling this out either as a hoax or fake, though.

After a few minutes of recovering my stamina, I suddenly hear some people shouting close by. Most on the streets ignore it as this is probably a common occurrence in New York City, but for me, this could be my first opportunity to fight and level up.

After looking around for a second, I determine that the shouting was coming from a mostly empty lot next to the building I'm currently on that has some construction work going on on it.

I climb down the wall of the building and, once I'm close enough, jump up onto a nearby steel beam overlooking the entire site.
