ANGELINE pretended that she did not hear anything and smiled at her husband staring at her, then felt his hand gripping hers.

"Don't stay away from me," Jacob reminded his wife almost in a whisper and at peace when she nodded. He was never this scared as death calls.

But within himself, his thoughts were restless. What happened to him shot a bullet still troubled him as he could die if not for the presence of Mallory. He knew he could trust the vampire king but not the flying danger that could kill him anytime.
