RESTLESS NIGHT

GRAHAM couldn't help but wonder why Eclaire suddenly fell silent. "What are you thinking, noona?"

"I think I'm starting to understand how noble families choose their children's partners," Eclaire said, and it was like she was just thinking out loud. "It has benefits, too."

Oh.

That kind of hit his sore spot.

It was rare for nobles to marry for love. Usually, a marriage between two noble households only meant expanding the business. That, or making sure that one's noble lineage would remain pure.

[Marrying for love is already rare. But a noble marrying a commoner is even rarer. It almost never happens. Usually, the commoners would just remain as the noble's lover.]

It was a sad reality of their society.

Graham thought he would never have to worry about that. He thought he would just marry anyone that the king would choose for him.

But not anymore.
