Grub

I let Lauren buy me the clothes as an apology, even though we could both afford them a thousand times over.

"Do me a solid and don't let the others know how I almost got the both of us killed, antagonising the Blur and Timeslip," Lauren said as we walked away from the stall. "If they ask you can let them know, I know how much you dislike lying, but if they don't… maybe don't bring it up?"

"Ah," I said in understanding, "So this is why you're buying me clothes, it's a bribe for my silence."

I said it jokingly, so she knew I wasn't actually calling her out.

"Please?" She whined, dragging out the word like a little kid would when asking for a snack.

"Fine fine," I relented. In all honesty, I would have stayed silent even without a bribe. I had a sneaking suspicion that she knew that.

Either way, she shot me a grin, "Thanks Tristan, I don't think those guys would have let me live it down if they found out."
