Curfew

There was a screech of feedback from the overhead tannoys, followed by the just about audible sound of a woman clearing her throat.

"Attention all residents in the Marketplace. Please do be informed that, to cooperate with the city-wide curfew that is now in effect, we will be asking everyone in the area to return to their homes. Please cooperate with any direction from the police as they guide you to the exits. Many thanks."

The crowds of people that had been lining the riverbank who had paused what they were doing to hear the announcement had started moving and talking again, though this time they were all moving toward the general direction of the cits.

I glanced over at my mum, "Guess that means we should head out of here, right?"

"Certainly seems that way, you get everything you wanted?" My mum replied, a small smile on her face.

It was finally time for me to head back to school.
