Chapter 10: Dinner
Dinner was great. My baby is great. I feel great. I was walking out with Zoey to her dad's car. It's been about 2 weeks since Zavia's been home from the hospital and it's been great. My family wanted to see her so we did a dinner with both of our family.
"So my family is having a banquet on Saturday and it's mandatory that I'm there, so I thought I'd let you know I won't be staying over this weekend" I say to Zoey as we were walking to the car.
"That's okay. Zavia will miss you though" she says and I'm starting to feel like a bad dad, maybe I'll just skip and deal with the consequences later.
"I'll skip, to heck with it. We have a banquet yearly but you don't see your baby's 24th day twice" I say with a smile. She was born 3 days after we came from our holiday which was the 26th of July. One of the happiest days of my life.
"It's fine Jacob I was just messing with you, don't miss it I know how important it is. I have one coming up too myself" She says pulling me out my thoughts.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. My grandfather was invited as is your grandmother to ours and that's why Zoya says she is staying since she will be attending as well" I say
"Yupp" she says popping the 'p'
"Don't miss me too much" I say with a grin as I gently nudge her shoulder.
"As if I would" she replies. We both laughed and stopped as we reached the car.
"Maybe after this weekend we can talk about that kiss" she says. I immediately light up. After the first night I spent by her house, I slept there most nights and after a week there, we ended up kissing one night and we've been tip toeing around the subject. I'd love for us to get back together especially with us having a child together.
"I'd love that and it would be best to figure this all out before school starts you know" I say
"I keep forgetting I was a year ahead of you. When will that be"
"August 28th"
"We got time. I'll call you when I'm home" she says as she steps into the car. I went around to the other door opened it and placed a kiss on my daughters forehead. She is asleep in her car seat.
"Drive safely Alexei, protect my girls with your life" I say
Happy right now is an understatement.
Shaday's POV
Friday August 18, 2017.
"Come on guys hurry up, David says dinner is at 7 and it's 6:45 right now" I say rather frustratingly.
My mother insists on bringing her famous chocolate cake and my siblings along with my dad are just dragging their feet.
"Calm your tits sis, we live literally 3 minutes away if we were walking, SLOWLY! Which we won't so we'll be there with more than enough time to spare. AND WE'RE DRIVING" Omari says
"Children come on, lets go we don't want your sister to explode with how red she is right now" my dad taunts. I rolled my eyes and left to wait in the car.
After about 5 minutes waiting in the car I was about to get out and drag my family out the door when I saw them coming in the car.
"Sorry, had to change my dress, dad says it was too short" Ashanti says with an apologetic smile. I rolled my eyes at her and sat there not uttering a word to any of them.
About a 1 minute later well 3 given we had to get access to their gate and then we had to drive down their long ass drive way. We reached at the front door and my annoyance completely disappeared.
"Guess you ain't mad anymore since your gonna see your boyfriend now, huh" David taunts and my parents and sister laughed at me making me blush.
"You guys are so annoying, and he's not my boyfri-- "Hey you made it, come in" I was greeted by David
"What were you saying sis, he's not your boyfr-- Ow! " Omari screams as I punched him in the stomach.
"Hey, yeah we made it, finally" I replied and we stepped in the house. "That's what you get, now shut up and stop whining like a girl" I whisper to Omari. He walked off mumbling something under his breath but I was too busy blushing at David's comment to care.
Catherine's POV
"You guys made it, thank you for coming." my daughter Jaime greeted someone or a couple of persons being that she said guys. Must be the new neighbours she said she invited over for dinner.
"Well thank you guys for having us" Some lady responded. That voice sounds rather familiar though.
"Oh ofcourse no problem, let me go get the rest of my family, dinner is just about ready. I'm sure David doesn't mind showing you guys to the dining room" my daughter says then I heard foot steps coming closer but soon stopped assuming they've reached the dining room.
I'm in the Home office which is in between the entrance and the dinning room.
"Mom our guests are here and dinners ready" says Angel from the door.
"Yes I'm coming right now" I say as I walk with her to the dining room.
As I step foot in the dining room I'm greeted with a squeal and returned the greeting. Here in my dinning room having dinner with my family is my bestfriend Sheryl. We hugged each other squealing and jumping like teenagers.
"What happened I heard screaming" Charlie with the rest of the family rushed into the dining room but when he saw who I was with he shaked his head with a smile.
"Ofcourse" he said
"Nice to see you too Charlie" Sheryl says
"Hello Sheryl, aren't you just a sight for sore eyes" he says sarcastically as he hugs her.
"As always" she says while flipping her hair.
"You guys know each other" says one of her daughters I'm assuming given she had triplets.
"Ofcourse Ashanti, this is Catherine, my bestfriend." She answers
"Oh the one you had all those crazy memories with" says her son.
"Ow!" Omar slapped him cross his head
"No need to hit him. We had some very wild stories and crazy ass memories that's for sure. I hope you didn't tell them too much" I say to Sheryl
"Ofcourse not" she replied
"Well let's all sit and have dinner" says Xander
So we all sat and ate and I caught up with Sheryl.
"Sorry I'm late, Zavia was not having it tonight. She didn't want me to leave. I had to sing until my voice was hoarse" Jacob says as he stepped into the living room where we all came to sit and chat more after dinner.
"It's okay son, come meet Sheryl" I call to him
"He's grown very handsome and a fine gentleman I assume" she says
"Very fine. Thank you" He says conceitedly
"I've heard alot about you and when I was born mom told me I stuck onto your daughter, that I wouldn't sleep without her." he says further
"Oh yes, very much so. Ashanti you remember that story too right" she turned and asked her daughter
She looked up and stared at Jacob while my son just stared at her emotionless.
"Well I don't mean to be rude but I am really tired and will have to excuse myself for the rest of the night. We'll talk more another day" Jacob says and then he was gone.
Well that's not like him at all.
