Student Council

Hearing a constant beeping sound, Jayce reached across his dresser and hit the snooze button. He wiped the tiredness from his eyes as he got out of bed.

But when he opened his eyes the first thing he saw was a notification.

[Daily Quest Failed]

[Retrieving Quest Failure]

[-1 Dexterity]

[-1 Strength]

Reading the message woke up Jayce completely as he opened up the Menu and went to the Stats tab.

Just like the message had said, he had lost one stat point in dexterity and strength.

'That's what I forgot to do yesterday.' Jayce thought with annoyance.

Although he could easily get two stat points back from doing the daily quest, he was still irritated that he forgot to do it.

Jayce closed the menu as he got ready to do his morning run. Once he was ready, he left his dorm and out into the cold morning air.

While he was jogging, he saw a group of students gathering near the gate.

It was pretty early in the morning so most students would still be sleeping in their own rooms, yet there were about fifteen to twenty of them rallying at the gate.

As Jayce got closer to the group, he was able to spot Yuko among the crowd of students. Yuko had also spotted Jayce jogging toward her group.

"Hi, Jay!" Yuko yelled as she waved her hand.

Her yelling had attracted the other students as they turned to where Yuko was.

"Hey," Jayce responded with no expression.

"So you're Jayce." A student said as he walked out of the group.

He was a little less than 6tf tall, wore glasses, and had black hair which was pushed to the side, he also had a longsword dangling on his waist.

On his left arm was an armband similar to Yuko with the only difference being there were three stripes instead of two.

"Who's four eyes?" Jayce asked with an unbothered tone.

"Pardon my manners, my name is Oliver, the President of the Student Council," Oliver said as he reached his hand out.

But Jayce completely ignored it, making Oliver take his hand back. "I've been wanting to thank you for taking care of that trouble maker Isaac, but I've been busy dealing with other matters."

"I wasn't aware that we had a student council," Jayce said with confusion.

When he looked at the other students in the group, they all had an armband on with either one or two strips. With this many students, he should have at least another one other than Yuko.

"We were outside of the Academy when Isaac was making trouble. I had left Ms. Kitagawa in charge with some other members while we were gone the past few days."

"We just got back and of course, there's more trouble." Oliver sighed as he pushed up his glasses.

"Trouble?" Jayce asked with curiosity.

"One of the members reported that a townie found two large puddles of blood in an alleyway. He went to investigate and found scenes of a battle, the two puddles mean at least two people died there." Yuko quickly responded to Jayce's question.

As soon as she finished informing Jayce, Oliver lightly dropped his fist onto Yuko's head.

Although he didn't put much force into it, it was strong enough to make Yuko regret saying what she did. "You shouldn't go telling a student classified information."

"Sowwy," Yuko said as she rubbed her head.

Oliver sighed once again. "Not only do we deal with students when they get out of hand, but we also act as law enforcement within the town."

"Ms. Kitagawa had assigned the members she was given in town while she handled the Academy by herself."

Everything started to make sense, why Yuko acted the way she did when they first met and after he dealt with Isaac. It was her responsibility to protect the students, yet she had failed to not only stop Isaac but almost lost a friend in the process.

'For someone so innocent, she holds a lot on her plate. But that's the least of my worries right now.' Jayce thought.

They had already found the alleyway much faster than he anticipated but thanks to him cleaning up it seemed like they didn't have much to go on. 'It'll be better for me to leave now before I draw too much attention.'

"It seems like you are going have your hands full so I'll get out of your hair," Jayce said as he jogged off before they could stop him.

As Jayce ran off, a female student walked over to Oliver, "He's the one that dealt with the lycanthrope."

She was the one to chase after the lycanthrope that got away while the rest of the student council was cleaning up.

When she arrived the lycanthrope was already dead, with its head crushed beyond repair and a boy lying on the floor with his hands covered in lycanthrope blood.

Although lycanthropes are weaker versions of werewolves, they have incredible strength and healing properties.

For one to not only get overpowered in pure physicality but also to not have a chance to heal is unheard of.

The student council member took Jayce to the hospital after informing Oliver of the situation.

Only three people know of Jayce's incident which includes the headmaster, Oliver, and the girl.

"Keep an eye on him for now," Oliver whispered back.

For someone who dealt with a lycanthrope without magic and then dealt with a magician without the use of magic, how could he not be intrigued?

"Understood" She responded as she slipped out from the group without anyone noticing.

As Jayce finished his morning jog, he headed back to his dorm room.

After making himself something to eat he opened up his inventory and pulled out a dark purple cube.

The last time he had to use it, the system was able to override it letting him leave the pocket dimension.

Since magic couldn't leak out, Jayce thought this was the perfect chance to practice using his Synchro. Holding it in his hand, he tried to activate the artifact as a message appeared above the cube.

[Does the Host wish to activate the artifact?]

'Yes'

[Activating the artifact with the mana signature of {Isaac Luptons}]

Jayce appeared in the dark space where he fought and killed Isaac. Turning around, Jayce saw Isaac's corpse was still in the same spot as he left it.

'I forgot about that.' Jayce said inwardly as he walked over and threw the corpse into his inventory.

He had the inventory skill for only a few days and four slots were taken up by bodies. Ignoring that thought, Jayce opened up his Stats menu as he prepared himself.

'System increases Synchro rate'

[Request Acknowledged]

[Increasing Demonic Synchronization]

Jayce could feel the energy leaving his heart and traveling into his veins. The energy traveled through his veins to reach every part of the body.

As the energy traveled, Jayce watched his stats increase

[Demonic Synchronization: 0.00%...1.96%]

[Max Demonic Synchronization has been reached]

Even though he's used Synchro a few times already, he couldn't get used to it. It felt like he was high on adrenaline but much more intense.

'Time to take it for a test drive'
