Alice began to shake uncontrollably as tears filled her eyes. The woman ignored her distress as she turned around to face the old man.

"Hmmm?" The old man went into deep thought as he rubbed his chin. "How about fifty-five thousand?"

"That's more than double our usual agreement." The woman replied.

"Take it or leave it." Mr. Paul said with a shrug.

"Fine." Reaching into her purse, she pulled out a bundle of cash and handed it over to the old man.

"Thanks for your patronage." The old man responded with a devious smile as he slid the money into his coat.

"Um... Do you need me to do to prepare the adoption paperwork?" Ana questioned, making the two of them turn toward her.

"There's no need, Ms. Haynes has already completed the necessary paperwork."
