Crossing The Lines

As a soft late afternoon light encases the master bedroom in a shimmering gold glow, Alex walks in and discovers her youngest child, whom she has been looking for since he went missing while she was on the phone with a client, just a couple of hours after the little boy returned home from pre-school. They are going to have supper.

She finds the little boy trying on his daddy's jeans in their walk-in closet while the maid that has been with them since their first day of marriage is doing her work, putting the fresh-just ironed clothes into the shelves after she's finished hanging the clothes on the other side of the toilet. As he is trying to find his foot in his daddy's tall pant legs, Alex can't help but ask the obvious.

"Sky, sweetheart," She begins. "Why are you wearing your daddy's jeans?"
