Chapter 45 A Debut Unpaid

Standing over Paxton.

He groaned as he held his stomach.

"It's time you answer some questions, Paxton."

I said.

"No I don't think so."

Paxton, lifted his arm.

His glove is disintegrated.

A beam shoots out from his palm.

The blast would push me back across the room.

My body slams against the pillar behind me.

Breaking into the pillar.

I struggle to stand up.

Feeling a strong pain on my chest.

"It may not be enough to kill you, but in the meantime I'll test it on Shepherd."

Shepherd sprints towards Paxton.

Shepherd punches Paxton, spilling blood.

Paxton endures the strike, enraged.

Paxton's metal hand clenches Shepherd's throat.

Shepherd struggles gripping onto his metal arm.

Shepherd rips off Paxton sleeve.

"You did this to me, you and Faron!"

Paxton's metal arm is silver, with a crystal inside the shoulder.

The crystal glows a bright blue.

Paxton slams Shepherd against the wall.

Paxton would then proceed to electrocute Shepherd.

"AAGGHHHHH!!!"

Shepherd screams in agony.

"How does it feel to be dominated for once?"

Paxton asked.

Shepherd clenches onto Paxton's metal arm.

"That's what you get for eating all of them giant bullets earlier, Shepherd."

Sprinting at Paxton, his great sword spins in a fast speed towards me.

I deflect the great sword with my forearm.

"You're a monster."

Paxton said, looking towards me.

"No, I'm just your nightmare for tonight."

I said, grabbing his shoulder.

Paxton would release Shepherd, dropping him to the ground.

Pulling Paxton, away from Shepherd.

I would punch him.

Paxton blocks it, with his metal arm.

Paxton, pulls out a dagger.

Slashing at my chest.

He would then attempt to pierce my skin.

"You done?"

I asked, grabbing his wrist.

Slowly twisting his wrist until he drops the dagger.

Paxton groans.

"You underestimate me, I have another energy for this again."

Paxton said, raising his palm.

His palm would glow, as energy forms around it.

I grab it, squeezing Paxton's wrist.

"Agh!"

The beam continues to charge, gathering energy.

Holding onto his metal arm, I punch Paxton.

Staggering him, the beam is still charging.

"I'm still going to blow you all to hell."

Paxton said, blood dripping his nose and mouth.

I continue to punch him, several times.

The beam continues to charge.

Paxton smiles with his battered face.

"You better kill me or I'll kill everyone here!"

Paxton shouted, spitting blood everywhere.

"Stop!"

Catherine shouted.

"You are going to kill him at this rate, do you really want that?"

Catherine asked.

"Princess..? Is that you?"

Paxton asked, unable to see.

Catherine backs up, my eyes widened.

He coughs up blood.

"Oh you didn't know you were walking around with Thorne's daughter?"

Paxton asked, chuckling before coughing again.

Frowning, I grip tightly onto Paxton's silver arm.

Pulling Paxton's entire body.

I rip his silver arm off.

Throwing his body across the room.

Paxton grunts slamming against the wall.

Crushing the arm, I drop it.

"Is there something you need to tell me, kid?"

I asked.

"I will, but where is Faron?"

Catherine asked, Shepherd hugged the wall.

Limping, outside.

"We have to find him."

Shepherd said.

Facing Catherine, I look at Paxton.

"It will be alright Paxton, cannot hurt me in his condition."

Catherine said, I nodded.

"We need to find Nathan as well."

I said, following Shepherd outside.

"Faron's footprints over here."

Shepherd pointed out.

I notice them as well.

"Looks like he left his tracks on the snow while chasing after them. It's a good thing he's a sloppy assassin."

Shepherd said, holding his side he stumbled into the snow.

Reaching out for Shepherd he smacked my hand away.

"Don't worry about me, we need to find them."

Shepherd said.

Ignoring him, I'd put his arm over my shoulder.

Helping him up, we continue to walk down the street.

I see one of the metal trucks down the road.

Upside sitting outside the building.

Stumbling down the street, we finally reach the scene.

Corpses and red ashes cover the snow.

Shepherd limps away from me, looking around the truck.

Walking towards the huge hole inside the dark building.

"Nathan is here!"

Shepherd shouts.

I run around the truck towards Shepherd.

Nathan's back is scorched, with a huge wound near his spinal cord.

With black marks.

"He might still be alive."

Shepherd said.

"You think so?"

I asked.

"His heart is still beating but really slow, I'm sure Catherine can help him."

Shepherd said.

"The way you reacted to his wound, have you seen this before?"

I asked.

"It's a curse, used by only one man. He's a hunter of all kinds, I can only assume they took Faron. Most likely saved Eric, because of a contract."

Shepherd said.

"So they were hired by Ohme to carry their slack. If they take Faron to Thorne we lose one of our heavy hitters."

I said.

"They didn't take him because of the contract, they took him because of me. I have a debut that's unpaid. I have a feeling Nathan will know where they went."

Shepherd said.

Lifting Nathan over my shoulder.

Me and Shepherd walk up the street.

Covered in deep snow.

Shepherd pants, stumbling.

Shepherd struggles to hold himself up.

Grabbing Shepherd's shoulder, I held him up.

"Come on, we are almost there, Shepherd."

I said.

"Right almost there, I can make it."

Shepherd said, heavily fatigued.

Police sirens can be heard.

"They are usually faster, the law enforcement must be short on muscle."

I said, we pick our pace moving faster than before.

Shepherd pants, as we move faster along the street.

Turning the corner we walk back inside.

Shepherd walks towards a pillar falling down, unconscious.

"What's wrong with him?"

Catherine asked, sprinting towards Shepherd.

"He needs blood, it looks like he hasn't fed in a while."

I said.

Dropping Nathan on the floor.

"Where's Faron and Eric?"

Catherine asked, inspecting Nathan's wounds.

"Eric was nowhere to be seen. Faron may have been taken."

Catherine looks away.

"Don't worry Catherine, Nathan may know where they are."

Patting her shoulder, I walk out of the room.
