In the city, countless stalls selling an enormous amount of varied items were filling the streets. The sounds of haggling and announcement of products filled the ears of all who wandered the city. They followed the crowd until arriving at a golden gate, where a line was forming, a man in a golden robe said in a loud voice.
"Those who want to join the Sky Conquering Sect, please make a line in front of me. Remember, we are only accepting people with at most a hundred years and cultivation at least at the sixth level."
Hearing this, the kids seemed excited and pulled Alexander's hand towards the end of the line, confused he asked.
"What's the Sky Conquering Sect? Is it enough to get you this excited?"
The kids looked at each other and smiled.
"I always forget that mister Alexander lost his memory before we met. The Sky Conquering Sect and the King Crowning Sect are the strongest sects that surpass the maximum cultivation levels. Entering one of them is a must for someone to become a legend like those from stories. We never knew that they would be recruiting in this city."
Nodding his head, Alexander thought of all the problems and benefits but decided to join the sect since it was the kids' dream.
The line started moving, and soon it was their turn, the first to enter the building was Terry, followed by Tinna and Alexander.
When it came to Alexander's turn, they presented him with two crystal balls, an older man with golden robes told him.
"Firstly, to prevent cheating, you will first see the age of your soul, then your cultivation, and then you can join the test. Put your hand on top of the crystal, and it will tell us your soul age, be aware that there is no way of cheating in this test. If you're older than one hundred years, then please step aside and spare our time."
Alexander put his hand as instructed with a slight hesitation, and a number appeared on the crystal.
"Zero?" Said the guard in disbelief. The person in front of him was not a newborn. How could it be possible to receive a zero in the age test?
Another guard chimed in, trying to solve the mystery.
"Maybe it's broken?" He asked.
"Let me check." Answered the first guard.
He put his hand on top of the crystal, and the numbers four, four, and seven lit up on the crystal.
"It's working... then what does his result mean? Hey you, what's your name?"
"Alexander Felix." He answered.
"Okay, Alexander, do you know why this result came up? Is there anything about you that would make the test miss result?"
"I don't know, sir. I have no memories from before a month ago." He answered.
Both of them looked at each other and shrugged. That one cannot fake the age of one's soul is well known, and they have no right to ban him from the test from a result being too low.
"Please now put your hand on this second crystal ball. We will now test your cultivation level."
He put his hand on the crystal ball. A blue light shone faintly, a single line of light appeared.
"First level spirit realm, quite decent... most people do not even know about the spirit realm on this plane. Alright, follow ahead next. We will evaluate your future potential once we finish the recruitment."
Alexander walked inside the building until arriving in what seemed to be a waiting room. There, Terry and Tinna greeted him with smiles. Rushing at him with arms open wide, after greeting the kids and making sure everything was okay, he looked around in-depth, trying to assimilate all that he could see.
He was in a circular room made of a yellow-shinning rock. There was an oval red rug with golden details. Some seats were almost crowded enough to become uncomfortable. The place was medium-sized, just enough to barely accommodate fifty people.
Around an hour later, people filled the room to the brim. Some were starting to complain when the sound of paper shredded and the room inflated, growing bigger to accommodate all. The packed room that barely housed fifty people now was an enormous place that could easily shelter two hundred.
A man in formal clothes resembling an overgrown suit wearing a monocle and a tophat with a handkerchief to clean the sweat on his brown entered the room. His goatee that was perfectly trimmed seemed to highlight itself when he spoke.
"To all of you, congratulations, for you are not impeded by your environment and can thrive despite the adversities thy path. But don't let it get to your heads. Now we will check your maximum future growth. Knowing this will make it possible for the elders to take you in as a personal disciple, but do not let it get into your heads since most of you will pass away before you're able to achieve it."
The man paused, letting people take in what he just said, before waving his hand towards the door where two assistants in the Sky Conquering Sect's outer disciple clothes came inside while holding an enormous transparent crystal ball attached to a circular table. It seemed to weigh quite a lot. They allocated it at the center of the room, exhaling in a heavy breath. The suited man coughed twice to call everyone's attention and said joyfully.
"Very well, now, please form a line in an orderly and civilized manner."
Hearing this, the crowd started to fight for the first place. After almost trampling Tinna, Alexander pulled them closer and hugged them to shield them from the crazed mob.
The man in the monocule seemed distressed and anxious seeing this, saying.
"Please, don't rush, careful there, you will fall, oh no, don't fight..."
"ENOUGH!" He finally snapped and shouted, putting an end to the dispute.
"Form an orderly line or else say goodbye to your spot on the Sky Conquering Sect. Dear lord, you all seem like a bunch of savages! Be civilized, and all will go well. I don't want to repeat myself."
Hearing this, people started to line up slowly. Finally seeing that danger was no more, Terry and Tinna pulled each of Alexander's hands towards the others.
"Hey, calm down, you'll end up severing my arms, you little runts."
They laughed heartedly, tiptoeing to watch the first place on the line. There a twenty-something years woman in a purple dress put her hand on the globe. Six blue lines bonded themselves on top of each other, and one of the two disciples said with a monotone voice.
"Sixth-Level Spirit Realm."
A round of slow cheer followed, which made the kids jump in agitation, wondering their future.
