Chapter 40 Marvelous

After the ceremony ended, Ji Hoon and Emmy is socializing with the actors and directors that are left in the hall. That's when a man wearing a hat comes up to him.

"Hi, pleasure to meet you, I'm Calvin Feige, a film producer for the Marvelous Studio."

"Oh hi, nice to meet you." Seems like he still isn't the president yet.

"Can we talk somewhere more private?"

Ji Hoon first looks at Emmy.

"Can I bring her with me? She is my girlfriend."

"Oh, sure sure, let's go to my car." Calvin quickly walks in front leading them.

"That's the first time you introduced me as your girlfriend in front of a stranger." (´͈ ᵕ `͈ ）

"But is he trustworthy?"

"I have heard of this man, he is not the kind of person that would do that, don't worry."

Inside Calvin's car

"So? What's with all the secrecy?"

"Cool, straight to the point, I like it. I saw what you did at during the opening of the ceremony. So are you interested in composing music for our movie?"

"Movie? Sorry for saying this but I've heard that your company isn't in a very good state right now."

"W-we are trying our best to solve the problem, and we have a clear plan for the future."

"Mind telling me the plan?"

"Erm..."

"I'm just curious, if it's hard for you, you don't have to say it."

*sigh

"Our company is actually in a big mess right now. We sell the rights of our superheroes to pay the debt of the company, we get no sponsors because most of them think that this kind of movie wouldn't make much profit. You would think we earned a lot, but we actually don't because of all the stupid negotiations that were made, basically everyone else earn money except us. Power struggle is always going on among the higher ups, especially now, all of them are panicking. Even the movie I told you just now, most of the higher up are against it because they think the risk is too big."

"Erm, then why did you ask me to compose a music for you if there isn't even a movie to begin with?"

"Because soon, I'm going to be the president of the company because the former one decided to step down from the job. The first thing I'm gonna do is to get rid of all the higher ups who only cared about profits. This company was originally formed by a group of people who loves comics and superheroes, but now it's full of money-sucking, corrupted people from everywhere."

"Then how do you plan on getting rid of them?"

"I'm gonna need a lot of money. I might get a big loan from the bank, then I'm gonna buy the shares back and make Marvelous Studio independent."

"But you won't be getting the money for free just like that, I assume you would have to put a lot on the line as collateral, which probably means more superheroes."

"That's a risk we have to take, we can't just sit here doing nothing and hope that things would suddenly be better."

"What if I say I have a better option for you, one that's not so risky."

"What? Don't tell me you have that amount of money because I will never believe you."

"Oh of course I don't, but I know someone who has that amount of money."

Ji Hoon takes out his phone and stares at it for a moment, hesitating to call that number.

"What are you hesitating for?"

"Just give me a moment."

*deep breath

He presses the call button and put on the speaker mode.

"Jay?! You finally calls me! Congratulations for the award by the way, really happy for you!"

"Jay???" This is what Emmy is thinking right now.

"Erm, hi Brina."

"I miss you so much, how were you?"

"As you can on the screen I'm doing quite well."

"I'm glad to hear that. Now, you didn't call just to say hi did you? So shoot."

"I need money. A lot."

"How much?"

Ji Hoon turns to Calvin and questions with his eyes.

"Five hundred million dollar."

"F-five hundred million dollar."

"Hmm... before we go any further, why don't meet up and talk in person, you know where I am, I'll be expecting you. Bye~" She hangs up the phone.

"Who was that?"

"You wouldn't know even if I tell you, meet me at the airport two days later, we will go see her together, here's my number."

"Okay I guess... it's not like I have any other choice."

"For now, would do us a favor and drop us here?" Ji Hoon shows him the address to Emmy's home at Lond.

"Sure thing."

Calvin drives his car away.

"Now really, who was that?" Emmy asks while opening the door.

"Brina Lavinia, daughter of the Lavinia family. They are a family of private investors."

"Never heard of them before, how did you know her?"

"You aren't suppose to know her, because they work behind the scenes. Remember this?" He points to his left chest.

"How could I ever forget that..."

"Well, I told you I was sniped, but didn't tell you why. To make it simple for you, I was on rescue mission, Brina and her family were the hostage, and they were being tortured by the enemies. I succesfully infiltrated the site, and rescued them, but when I were on my way out, I were ambushed by the enemies' backup. That's where I got shot."

"What happened next?"

"Luckily my comrades heard the gun shots and quickly sent help for me. We were able to take care of the backup, and bring Brina and her family to safety in the end. She gave me her number after that, and wanted me to contact her once I'm discharges but I honestly forgot it, so I assume she might be a little pissed about that."

"That explains a lot... well enough about that. Follow me." She walks to her room.

When they enter the room, she immediately pulls him into a deep kiss.

"Remember the promise I gave you this evening? Come and get them."

"You don't have to say twice."
