A Lab Where Flesh Turns to Words pt. 1

After many attempts in fighting the Knife Holder, we decide to just bail out and leave the Uhndaks alone, since that sole Taanji is just too complicated for us to fight.

If we can just somehow reactivate Revian's [Absolute Provoke], maybe we will have the chance to win against him. But with all the chaos influence in this exhibit, along with his overpowered [Purge], I don't think we will get anywhere by keeping on trying to fight.

"Is it really okay to just leave like this, My Prince?"

Anna asked me while all of us were already on our way inside Revian's room to our destination which is the building of our objective, the facility owned by His Holiness Verslinder where the midnight sun-colored ratna reside.

"Relax, our first objective given by that Vhisawi is to survive. The whole exhibit is a garden created by the God of Death, Taanji that lived here won't bother anyone outside of the Zoo." I replied to her question.

"I see… but won't they continue to chase us? The Sun hasn't even left us for the day, and we still need to be here until morning comes, or 8 AM to be precise."

Well I mean… she's not wrong, But there were lots of things to consider here.

"Hmm… it depends, whether they hunt us to kick us out of their territory, hunt us as a food source, or hunt us because they hated humans and wanted us to perish," I explained.

"So we have 1 out of 3 chance to get chased?"

Chiya joined in the conversation. Actually, everyone in here was listening to our discussion, even Hada and Falisha who are at Althea's room which is exactly right next to us. Both of the dragons were almost attached to one another in their ride.

"Yep." I nodded.

"Relax all of you, we'll find safety in the facility. If they're able to just put something as valuable as a midnight sun ratna, the whole place must've been fully guarded against the wilderness." I could sense Hada was annoyed with our topic of argument.

"Agreed."

So as to not annoyed Hada even further, we decide to drop the conversation out and move on to the next topic.

Regardless, our journey to the facility is not like walking in a park, more Taanji and more groups of Uhndak continuously ambush us since the two dragons almost lost their ability to see through the ground they step on. In times like this, it's quite hard to travel without any scouting Combat Class in our group.

If we're in a static state though, we can use Anna's fiery butterflies as surveillance. But those pets of hers cannot match the speed of both dragons, so they're pretty much unusable in a ride.

After hours of journey in this dry land, the Sun is finally setting. But along this time we also found the facility which we've been looking for.

"This is some mad scientist-type shit…"

In front of us is a three stories building, colored in black and white. Everything it has from the outside just screamed high-end laboratory. However, just like every building owned by His Holiness Verslinder, it's nested by black crows and ravens.

Although they're somewhat… quiet. None of the caw and croak were heard during our visit.

On the side of this lab is a huge barn with a wall as high as two stories of the laboratories. It was painted in black and purple, and guarded by Living Corpses, just like the lab's door.

I've heard that the God of Death often does some dissections, autopsies, and experiments on the Taanji and animals He kept in His Zoo.

He made a pact with the Chaos Tree to continuously regenerate all the resources that exist in His Zoo, this also includes the livings. With this, He can use as many animals and Taanjis that He wanted to satisfy His curiosity.

To be fair, the whole Earth in the New World has unlimited resources. Whether they're supported by the Tree of Life in Selebes or the Chaos Tree here in Kaput.

"By the way, aren't the door kind of… small?" Hada asked, considering its size to the biggest member of our group.

"Maybe there's a bigger door on the back. If this is truly a laboratory, then His Holiness must have a way to put the Taanji He hunted inside. I mean… did you guys remember that large thing we saw on our way here!?" Chiya pointed that out. The big ass rock-throwing Taanji.

"Let's go then!"

All the eight of us proceeded to walk to the entrance of the barn where just like every entrance in this Zoo, is guarded by two Living Corpses.

"Hada, you excel in Unity right? Go on request some permission to them." I demanded that ice brother of mine.

"Aight aight."

He then pridefully walk closer to them, as if he's the best among us. Well in this regards tho… I guess so.

"Izin masuknya tuan… (permission to enter please kind sir)" He talked to them in Unity with a gesture of a child who asked for candy from their parents.

Without much reaction, the Living Corpses then opened the barn entrance for us, which is a wide gateway, without any limits for height.

"Terima kasih. (thank you)" Hada bowed.

All of us then walk straight in, through the gate to the center of the barn. There was a huge field with nothing but plain dirt, and surrounding it is iron fences, with a view of all the pens that contains animals and Taanjis on the queue for His next experiment.

"This is somewhat… terrifying."

The dark sky of the upcoming night just makes the atmosphere of this graveyard even scarier. I just hoped that His Holiness won't visit this place during our stay. I can't begin to imagine the sounds of screaming animals at the time of experiments.

"By the way all of you… I didn't see any door or way we can enter the lab through the barn. Everything was flat, not even a window or vents existed." Said Hada.

"There's one, Your Grace," Revian commented, and Althea nodded in agreement right beside him.

"Where? Did you sense it?" Replied Hada curious.

"Under us…"
