First Day at Work (2)

Heaving a huge sigh of relief, Eunice arrived at the company in one piece. Halfway through she even used the auto drive mode because her hand kept shaking everytime she approach an intersection. The company building is separated from the hotels and is located near the Golden Harmony mall. The buliding was originally owned by the Han family as their administrative office for the mall. But after the merger they used it as the overall head office since the office building of the Lin family's hotel is located outside the city center.

She drove her car on the company's underground parking lot. She has her own parking space beside her father's car. She then enter the lift towards the ground floor. This lift can also be used to directly send you to the CEO's office as long as you have a specific card. But she is not yet eligible to own one. Once up, she proceed towards where the employee lifts were, where she needed to scan her I.D. card on a machine first before riding the elevators towards her designated floor. Her moves were natural and her steps are confident showing that she had done these series of routine for a long time.

She caught the attention of everyone when she exited the lift. They all wonder who this regal woman was and admired her imposing queenly aura. After all most of the people who enters the company from the main entrance are employees who hadn't met her before. In fact the only ones who knew her were the executives.

But when she opened her handbag to get her I.D. card she realized that it's not there. Just when she was trying to think where she left it, two men approached her. One of them is a middle aged man probably in his forties while the other looked younger, at least on his late twenties. When she recognized the younger man, her pupils dilated in alert. Her head is filled with 'Why is he still here?' Luckily she didn't get to voice out her inner thoughts when the middle aged man started talking or else she wouldn't be able to explain herself.

"Good morning young miss. It's been five years since we last met. You've grown so much. Time does fly fast." The middle aged man said familiarly.

Retracting her gaze from the younger man, she collected herself then greeted the older one with a sweet smile. "Good to see you Uncle Wei. You didn't change at all. Still as handsome and youthful." She said while giving him a hug. The man is Robert Wei, her father's assistant.

Robert laughed in a good mood obviously pleased with the compliment but still answered humbly. "That part of you never changed at all. Still knows how to make this old man laugh. See these white hair of mine?"

"I'm not joking though. You aged like a fine wine Uncle Wei." She added gaining more brownie points from the older man. But from time to time her sight would inadvertedly sweep to the younger man.

Seeing her curiosity, at least that's how he entepreted it, Robert finally introduced the younger man. "By the way, this is Bernie Wang, he's twenty nine. He is part of the finance department. He is a promising young lad. He was working at the branch office ever since he graduated from his master's degree. Then three years ago he was then transferred here in the main office. Sooner or later he would probably become your greatest asset when you become the CEO so get along with him. I brouight him to meet you since you'll be assigned in the finance department for starter. I assigned him to be your guide."

Eunice pursed her lips minutely to supress her emotions before she finally stretched her hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you Mister Wang. Please take good care of me." She greeted with a polite smile.

"It's what I should do young miss Lin." Bernie Wang replied with an equally polite smile, shaking Eunice's hand back with a slight respectful bow. Although technically speaking he has the seniority in the corporate heirarchy, Eunice is the daughter of the owner and the established future CEO so he opted to lower himself.

In her previous life at this timeline, Eunice didn't know who Bernie Wang was. But the reborn Eunice knew him very well. He is from the suburban area of C City where Alice and her mother previously lived. And Bernie was her neighbor. She was also the one who helped him enter the company. But he really did have some capabilities so he rose up in ranks quite fast.

But what Eunice knew about him most was the fact that he is a criminal who embezzled the company's money from the second year he arrive at the main office. He also falsified a lot of financial statements that almost ended in a lawsuit when the company undergone in an annual audit from the government. The company stocks plummeted a lot during that time. Luckily after the investigation they found out that it was done by a single person, and not by the company in order to lessen their tax. The lawsuit against the company was lifted. Instead the company filed a case against Bernie.

At some point, Eunice also tried to tie Alice on the case given that Bernie was someone she had recommended. That's when she asked Victor's help. But they failed miserably. Not only did they not find proof of Alice's involvement, they also acquired Zach Lu's wrath. But only Victor suffer the brunt of his retaliation.

Honestly she didn't know if Alice really had a hand on the matter. All she thought that time was she wanted to ruin Alice's reputation in front of all the people who placed her at the pedestal. That even if she didn't find anything, they would at least be suspicious of her character.

Remembering that event, Eunice decided to prioritize this matter before the goverment's audit notice comes. And counting from the present, it would happen seven month from now. Eunice thinks that that amount of time is more tha enough. Especially with Victor's help. But they have to act sneakily to avoid Zach Lu's attention. Not that she intend to drag Alice into the matter unfairly. But just to be safe. After all she really did think that it's plausible for Alice to be involved. That's what her instincs told her. And in case she gets a proof, she won't be polite.

When the introduction and pleasantries are given, Robert Wei finally presented a folder to Eunice. Inside is a document stating her duties and an extensive report of the company's business structure and the people responsible to every position. It also includes the I.D. card that she's been searching on her bag earlier. She felt a bit of shame knowing that she's been searching for something she didn't have in the first place. Habit surely dies hard.

Eunice thanked Robert then they proceed to the elevator. However only Robert will accompany Eunice in the HR. Bernie excused himself because he still have a lot of work to do. Robert didn't mind and Eunice didn't want his company either.
