Two days later, the army reached the watchtower.
It was in ruins and was cloaked in flames. There were corpses littered across the land and beneath the ruins were full of charred remains of the soldiers.
Irileth signaled the army to stop as she scanned the surrounding.
"No signs of any dragon right now, but it sure looks like he's been here. I know it looks bad, but we've got to figure out what happened. And if that dragon is still skulking around somewhere." She said as she gazed upon the ruins and corpses. "Spread out and look for survivors! We need to know what we're dealing with!" She yelled towards a group of soldiers that were dressed differently than the rest.
While the regular soldiers were donned in heavy armor, they were donned in light armor so that they could be quick on their feet in situations that required to be so.
Around fifty of this squad spread out to search the surroundings and see whether there were any survivors.
Alaric and the rest of the Companions were finalizing their preparation just in case. There were no signs of the dragon but one could never be too sure.
"It is still here." Kodlak said.
"Yeah. The air filled with an unknown stench." Farkas agreed.
"How do you even smell that?" Alaric inquired with curiosity.
"Maybe you will know in the future but I hope you will not." Kodlak said just in time for a soldier to run out of the watchtower.
"No! Get back! It's still here somewhere! Hroki and Tor just got grabbed when they tried to make a run for it!" He yelled but it was unnecessary as a dragon appeared behind the mountains.
As Alaric gazed upon the dragon, he noticed that this one was different than the on he saw in Helgen.
This dragon was smaller and less intimidating.
"Kynareth save us! Here he comes again…"
"Here he comes! Shields up and make every arrow count!" Irileth yelled as she drew her sword and shield.
"Farkas, I'm leaving the shielding to you. And Arvel,"
"Leave it to me brother." "Yes?"
"If you run," Alaric proceeded to take out the bow and a couple of arrows from his storage. "I will make sure one of these will find your asshole. Now go and make yourself useful." He said as he nocked an arrow.
Meanwhile, Farkas brought up his huge shield while standing in front of him.
"What are we waiting for? The glory we were seeking is just in front of our eyes. Let's show them what a Companion is made of!" Kodlak shouted as he took out his bow and arrows ready to shoot down the dragon.
The rest of the Companions followed suit.
{HAHAHA Fus Ro Dah!}
Upon seeing the pesky mortals gathering their courage to challenge him, the dragon Mirmulnir laughed as he threw an Unrelenting Force shout.
A mortal could use the Voice, but they never would be as good as a dragon. And Mirmulnir demonstrated just that. The soldiers who had to take the brunt of the force were thrown back. Some with just broken bones, some with missing limbs and some didn't even exist anymore. They were disintegrated.
{Hmm?} But as he laughed, an arrow ,unlike the ones he had seen and shrugged like it was nothing, was plunged in his wing.
It was big almost three times the size of a normal arrow and was sharp beyond compare. But even still, it did nothing but pierce just a few inches, nothing more.
He clapped his wings and shrugged the arrow just like the ones he had done before.
{Yol Toor Shul!} and continued his slaughter. Shields were completely useless before the might of the sun. They completely melted just like their wielders.
And that made Mirmulnir thrilled. Showing these mortals where they belonged was always a pleasure. It was the instinct of a dragon. To dominate. Maybe they were different before, maybe they had some sort of purpose to their being.
But Alduin said that they were here to rule over these mortals so it had to be just nonsense.
Meanwhile, Alaric was trying to take aim on the dragon but it was fast and from his three shots, only one landed. But even then, the dragon shrugged it like it was nothing.
So, without a choice he injected his magicka into the bow and concentrated it on the string.
'Please don't break!' He didn't worry that the bow would break but instead he was worried about the string. The giant tendons weren't as durable as their troll counter parts but they had more burst power. And that was something needed against a dragon.
And he pulled the string while taking aim with pure focus.
And he let go of the arrow.
*Boom* with an explosion that thankfully did nothing to Alaric, the arrow left the string and teared a hole through the dragon's wings.
*Roar!* Mirmulnir was furious.
An ant dared to hurt his mighty wings!
So, he searched nook and cranny just so he could find that ant and kill him for daring to do such thing!
He finally noticed a man standing behind the rest of the mortals with a huge bow in his hands.
*Boom!* but just as he noticed the man, and arrow found its way right in his eye.
*Roar!*{You puny mortal! You will pay for what you have done! Wuld Nah Kest!} And with a shout he disappeared.
Farkas upon seeing the dragon tail that appeared out of nowhere prepared himself for the incoming impact. "Alaric!" He yelled as he blocked the tail.
He was pushed a few meters behind from the force but he was fine. "Got it." Then Alaric said as he jumped on his shoulders to lunge towards the dragon with the Goldbrand in his hand.
"Haaaaa!" He yelled as a fiery pillar erupted from the blade and met with the with of the dragon.
{Fo Krah Diin!} Mirmulnir threw a frost breath as the fire erupting from the blade made him panic a little and extinguished it. But the blade itself still found its was to his wing and cut it off.
{Gaaaahhh!! Fus Ro Dah!} He shouted with hopes of getting rid of this nimble mortal but he was surprised.
{Feim!} The mortal knew the Dragon Tongue!
But while he was busy with the nimble mortal, the rest of its comrades tried attacking him from behind.
His wing was cut off so taking flight was out of the question. But who said that he needed to have the high ground to take care of them?
{Zun Haal Viik!} With a mighty shout, all the weapons in their hands were thrown away leaving them bare in the open.
{Fus Ro Dah!} and they were flung away just like their blades.
While dealing with this little group, Mirmulnir didn't forget the soldiers that were charging towards him blindly.
{Faas Ru Maar!} For the weak shall fear the Thu'um and flee in terror.
"We-we can't win!"
"I don't want to die!"
The soldiers who were charging in the front started running like the cowards they were. And it did put a smile on Mirmulnir's face.
But just as he relaxed a little, *Boom!* another arrow found his body just below where his heart was.
{Gah! Wuld Nah Kest!} while dealing with the ants, he forgot about the most annoying one.
He got away while in ethereal form and was shooting from a distance. So, Mirmulnir 'teleported' right behind it and was about to chop its head off.
"Farkas!" "Got it!" But that annoying ant with the shield stopped him once more.
A mortal having the strength to stop a dragon bite? Impossible. It must have made a deal with a Daedra and from the smell, Mirmulnir could understand that it was a dog of Hircine.
{A mere dog dares to stop me?! Yol Toor Shul!} Mirmulnir got so angry that he stopped trying to have fun and decided to kill this ant in front of him.
"Haaah!" But just in time, he was kicked right in the side of his face by the nimble mortal leading him to turn the other way while his shout left his mouth.
And pain!
A sword was plunged in his head!
He tried to throw the mortal away but it was desperately clutching onto his scales so as not to be thrown off!
After Alaric could gather his bearing together, he pumped the Goldbrand which was hilt deep inside the head of the dragon and his whole arms with magicka "Take this!" And with a shout swung it with all his strength, cutting the dragon in two with the help of Magicka Burst.
Mirmulnir knew that he had lost this fight to that mortal. But it was okay, Alduin would revive him once more so that he could take his revenge.
He went easy on it because he wanted to have some fun after all these years but ended up getting killed once more. It was pathetic of him.
But then something happened that made him regret what he had done.
He was prepared to continue sleeping in his soul form but it was being absorbed!
The mortal who killed him was absorbing his soul! He was actually going to die!
And there was only one mortal who could do it.
{Dovahkiin?! Noooooo!} And he was no more.
Alaric was surprised upon seeing something fly out of the dragon and fly towards him.
{Feim!}
He thought that the dragon was using a suicide attack that would kill him together with it and instantly went into Ethereal Form but he was surprised that he was forcefully take out of that form as the glowing orange thingy surrounded him.
And after that, it started entering his body.
"What is this?" He felt fine. There was no signs of any danger nor injury.
But after a while he felt something. And that feeling increased with every second.
He started feeling every fiber of his being. His bones started to crack and his magicka pool started to increase.
And a rush of power. It felt infinite! It was exhilarating!
In no time his magicka pool doubled!
He was tougher, stronger and faster than ever!
And most importantly, his shouts. He could understand the ones used by the dragon. Not all, but a few words. But even then it was amazing as he comprehended the final word in Unrelenting Force shout.
His understanding of 'push' deepened. And he was filled with power at this moment. But he had to release this bubbling feeling inside him.
So he turned to skies and let it out. "Fus Ro Dah!" Thunder accompanied his voice as the shout echoed throughout the skies.
After releasing the shout, he felt better than ever and turned towards the people who were approaching him.
"I can't believe it… You are Dragonborn!" A soldier said as he looked towards Alaric with awe.
