Incident

Life truly gives us a lot of surprises. It brings things in many shapes and sizes. People are one among them. We meet people by chance. Not intentional most times. There are times when certain things are meant to take place. Here it was not the same. But was it? Nobody knew about it either.

Chris and Arora jumped out of the sofa. He fell down as she pushed him off her and got up. It was the same girl she saw in the cafeteria talking to Chris, flirting openly with him. Aurora was confused. She looked at Chris who stood up and corrected his shirt.

"Sally it was you," he said and forgot about Arora completely. Sally was standing by the door, fuming with anger seeing Chris lying on top of another girl.

'What the f**k?' she wanted to ask him but kept her mouth shut.

Arora straightened her hair and clothes and picked up her bag. Chris was smiling at her. Sally waited for the explanation from Chris and cleared her throat. "Ah yes," Chris came back to his senses, "This is Arora. A friend from college," Arora felt hurt by the way he introduced her. He was trying hard to clear up the ideas Sally had formed in her head.

Aurora smiled lightly and left the room without saying a word. She did not wish to stay there and see Sally's face. The food she brought for him lay there until Sally made him drink the coffee she bought for him. "Too kind of you to buy food for me since I texted you I would meet you here," she said as she ate the burger. Honestly, he never saw her messages. Chris felt numb for a moment managing to smile.

Aurora was disappointed once again. She took out her phone and texted someone.

"It is harder than we imagined," she sent. "That girl is getting on my nerves."

Aurora tried to get a hold of herself and walked for some time. But she ended up smiling as she thought of her early incident with Chris. She went straight over to Kate's, an acquaintance. The three kids were waiting for her arrival at the doors. She hugged them all and talked with Kate.

"Have you been taking the medicines?" Kate asked while they had dinner. Her husband was away on a trip so she called Aurora for help and babysitting. Hearing the question, Aurora smiled.

"No. It's been a while." She replied. "No sleeping tablets nor the others," Aurora said.

"Good. Let it go like that. Don't depend on the medications, not good for health," Kate said and they continued having dinner. Kate had prepared baked chicken and salad with homemade bread that was burnt a little and sweet corn soup. and This time Arora had lots to talk about college and music and Kate listened to everything patiently. She enjoyed it.

Kate has a huge influence on Aurora's life bringing her back on track. Making her into what she is now. After playing with the kids, Aurora put them to bed and walked over to the guest room she usually sleeps in. She didn't know whether to feel good or bad about her day. She got irritated the moment she thought about Sally. Aurora did a breathing exercise sitting her bed and tried to get some sleep.

"Danny, wake up" Chris tried to wake Daniel from his sleep. "How come you are sleeping on the weekend?" Chris asked him. "Come. Let's go for a drink." He said holding beers. Daniel woke up excited hearing about drinks and went running with Chris to the terrace of the dorm.

"Why are we here? I thought we are going out. Did you wake me up to come to sit here?" Daniel expressed his disappointment gulping down his chilled beer. Chris was sitting there gazing at the sky. He touched his chest and said "I felt something strange today. Is it possible?" he asked Daniel. Daniel laughed out loud. "Don't be stupid." He said and lay down. Chris took his phone and texted Aurora.

"Where are you?" he asked.

"Away." He received a reply only after a while.

"Where is that?" he asked for more details.

"In my sister's place." she sent.

"Where is that?" He kept asking.

"Why?" Aurora asked back.

Say! Please!" He sent her, begging her to reveal the details. He desperately wanted to know.

"Crazy you are. Drunk huh?" she said.

"Send me the location. Let me see." he requested. He wanted to see them.

Aurora sent him the live location.

"This is nearby," Chris was happy and he stopped drinking his beer. He had a mischievous smile on his face.

Aurora dozed off after the short chat. An hour later, feeling hot and sweating she woke up to turn on the air conditioner and found someone lying with her watching her. For a moment she was shocked and about to cry out while he closed her mouth asking her to come back to her senses.

"It's me, It's me, Christopher," he said.

"Are you mad?" She said whispering.

"I should be. Don't you think" he smiled playfully.

"How did you get in?" she was furious and curious. She sat up.

"Window," He said coolly. Chris took the pain of climbing the window and got in easily.

She laughed and began to push him. "You better get out. Get out before they find you here."

"Why would they? I locked the door. Why didn't you?" he asked her back and lay on the bed again pulling her back. "Let's sleep. I'm tired." He said holding on to her, hugging her tight. She was confused unable to understand what was happening.

'Why is he doing this?' she wondered. Yet she let him be and lay down. They talked and argued about college for a while and she fell asleep in his arms while he lay awake for some more time.

Chris did not want to deceive her he decided. He felt warm watching Arora sleep peacefully and stayed awake for a long time. They both slept aloud until someone banged on the door late in the morning. They both were sleeping hugging each other close with the quilt lying down the floor and pillows somewhere else on the bed making the room into a mess.
