Ch 10 (E)
Allison launched forward, her uniform rippling as small metal bands on her arms and legs became visible, making a clinking noise as they moved.
Peter and Allison raced to determine who could secure the middle of the field first, taking a defensive stance before the other.
The dark world behind lucas' eyelids concentrated on reaching out, feeling for the power he tapped into before.
The scene only got weirded when Aliyah's face furrowed, as she too closed her eyes.
"What the hell are those two doing just lazing around with their eyes closed," one of the kids asked, Brill not knowing what to do just kept typing.
Aliyah, still blind, slowly started casually walking toward Lucas, while the two other team members skidded into the middle bracing themselves for the brawl.
Allison's power to modify electromagnetic fields played a large role in her sudden burst of speed earlier, the bangles on her legs effectively acting as a propellant device.
Peter's ability, on the other hand, was special. His Ability to create small nuclear fission reactions in his body allowed him to draw out a large amount of power and use it to amplify his combat capabilities.
The side effect of this was a large amount of waste energy leaving his body as heat.
As Allison got closer, she shielded her face, the uncomfortable heat radiating off Peter dried her eyes and reddened her cheeks.
Unknown to her the bonfire lit was only just getting started.
"ha-ha! They call me too hot to handle!" Peter remarked as Allison scoffed at the comment.

'It feels like I'm still missing something, but' Lucas had finally grasped the part of his brain that controlled his power.
Once again, a feeling of euphoria washed over his body.
"Huff" Lucas inhaled deeply as the air became crisp and the environment became sluggish.
'Now that I figured out how to activate this, no time like the present to test my limits' Lucas thought.
To say time stopped around him would be an outlandish exaggeration, he could still clearly see everyone moving around just ¼ slower than normal.
'I'm only using a portion of my abilities.' Lucas decided to only use a mediocre amount of the feeling within him, for some reason he felt that if he used all of the power he would collapse from exhaustion.
First, he took a deep breath, focusing on the rhythm of his breathing.
The purpose of this test was to see if his actions were tangible in this slowed environment, breathing proved this.
It was still a struggle to breathe but compared to the last time it was a walk in the park.
'Okay, now test two' Lucas exerted force into his arm trying to raise it, but nothing happened.
'You have got to be kidding me, am I only ever going to be able to see things slowly but not react in time' Lucas pondered, this couldn't be the case because the first time- he didn't want to think about the first time.
'maybe I just don't have the proper energy in my arm to move it at this speed, my brain and eyes can see and think faster because the power is centered around the front of my brain, but if I try to move it' He thought.
This time he focused on the energy in his head, directing it toward his arm. What felt like a river of syrupy warm water washed through his right arm.
'How about now' He commanded his arm to move and much to his satisfaction it followed. He was breaking away from his mortal chains, moving at the same speed as his sped-up thoughts.
Overjoyed he looked at Aliyah, who at this point was only tens of feet away, her face showing signs of convulsion.
Around twenty seconds had passed from his view but to everyone else, it was only around fifteen.
-
Aliyah was saddened, the connection she had attempted to make with Lucas didn't work. Thinking it might have been due to the distance, she decided to get closer.
Nearing him, a flip switched in her head.
Previously she could only feel Peter's heat energy leaking from him in bursts as the energy from the fight wafted over to her. And although she normally feed off this for her own strength, when she neared Lucas everything changed.
Concentrating on the connection between her and Peter she felt the invisible rope tighten as she willingly severed it.
Then attempting to reattach it to Lucas.
What met her mind was nothing but darkness.
-
'I need to get ready to fight, I can already feel myself tiring but not at an unmanageable pace. I can probably keep it up for another half a minute at most without needing to sleep afterward'
Just as Lucas tried to move his legs, he met a glaring problem. They wouldn't move.
Well- he could move his legs, manually directing power into each of them individually as he had learned with his arm but that wasn't the problem.
slowly wiggling his toes and thighs around in the exoskeleton that kept him standing he noticed a glaring problem. The tight apparatus succeeded in keeping his legs from moving at the speed he was attempting.
Even if there was no Exo skeleton, he could only move one of his limbs at a time using his power method.
This didn't seem to matter though as when Aliyah got within five feet of him, she fell flat on her face. Lights out.
'Did I do that ?? why do I feel tired so tired all of a sudden' Lucas's eyes began to sway as the room sped up once more.
"Huff, Huff, Huff- " Lucas breathed heavily, his legs swayed and his vision tunneled.
'don't pass out, don't pass ou-' he passed out.
The connection between the two severed as Aliyah and Lucas passed out. Aliyah's connection to Peter managed to reconnect to its default position.
Brill could only wonder what had happened as the hair on his neck stood up, a tingly feeling covered his body as he shivered.
The entire class felt a new type of warm air pass over them, no longer from the fight in the middle of the field.

Lucas opened his eyes to a white ceiling, his body and mind felt normal although still a little tired.
"Good morning sleepy head," Allison's angelic voice rang out as he looked over at her. She had just woken up from a nap as the golden rays from the setting sun shone through the oddly shaped window.
At this moment she truly did look like an angel.
"What happen-"Before Lucas could sit up and question Allison as to why he passed out all of a sudden he heard a shrill scream on the other side of the bed.
He looked over to see Aliyah in the medical bed next to his, wailing uncontrollably.
"AHHHH, it hurts!! Please, please, PLEASE make it stop!!" Aliyah's screams broken only by her cries for help reverberated in the medical room.
"It's okay, I'm here. I'm not leaving you" Peter held her hand as he sat in a chair beside her.
Nurses surrounding Aliyah could only sedate her in this state, nothing looking visibly wrong with her.
"What's going on," Lucas asked, extremely confused. The last thing he could remember was Aliyah looking at him funny before she keeled over.
Peter looked over at Allison and Lucas,
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!" Peter screamed, standing up so fast that his chair crashed into the ground.
Allison bolted from her chair vaulting over Lucas to prevent Peter from smacking him,
"I-I didn't do anything," Lucas responded, "I swear I didn't even touch her."
'That couldn't have been me, right?' Lucas thought about how his powers and the little he knew about them.
"Then how! Why is this happening, I know you had something to do with it. The connection between us was severed during your two's fight, that hasn't occurred, not even once since I've been with her" Peter said, his rage still on full display.
"…" Lucas didn't say anything fearful that Allison's grip on Peter's hands would slip.
"I suggest you two go back to your dorm, nothing good will come if you stay here," One of the nurses said as she helped Aliyah.
"Thank you, miss, we will take our leave" Allison took Lucas's hand as they left the med bay, Aliyah's pleas for help reverberated down the hall as the door swung shut.
The walk back to their room was quiet, while Lucas re-ran the events in his mind.
Once they had finally made it to their room the dim light coming through the windows ceased as the two prepared for bed.
Lucas wasn't too tired since he had just slept so he decided to share his conflicting thoughts with Allison.
"How did your side of the fight go?" Lucas asked.
"…"
"…Allison? You awake?"
"Yea I'm awake, just thinking" Allison's soothing voice made Lucas drowsier than he cared to admit.
"The fight was definitely difficult I'll give him that, in the beginning half I was uncertain as to if I'd win or not. But I won in the end just like I thought I would," She was still going over the fight in her head too, and being completely honest she had been rather humbled by peter and the fight was close enough to warrant uncertainty.
"Yea, I'm sorry I passed out,"
"No, no, no. It wasn't your fault; this is still your first full day of standing and walking around. We should have stuck closer together and made a strategy beforehand, this is what we get for being so new as a team," Allison was quick to comfort him.
"…"
"But if I may ask what went on over there while I was taking care of the oaf," Allison's curiosity oozed into her question.
"… It's really hard to explain, one second I was getting ahold of my powers, and the next they just stopped, and I passed out as if all my energy just left my body."
"Hm? What do you mean by getting ahold of your powers? Was that the first time you ever used them?!" Allison's voice got worried as she thought about how little she knew about Lucas's powers.
"Well kind of, I mean I used them once when I was younger… and when I was in the helicopter but that's about it,"
Lucas heard rustling as Allison's head stuck over the bunk bed railing, a concerned look on her face.
"You've only ever used them three times including today…" her eyes bore a hole into him as he nodded.
"I'm screwed," Allison sighed as she went back to her sleeping position.
"What kind of powers do you even have? You say you used them on the helicopter, but nothing even happened"
"Yea, that time when I used them my body couldn't move during activation and then I quickly fell asleep after the fact too,"
"Bingo. You can't use your powers without passing out. That's just fantastic "sarcasm dripped off her tone
"No," he said firmly. "This time was different; I was actually getting the hang of them until Aliyah looked at me funny"
"So, it was her fault that you passed out"
"Yea"
"Okay, that makes sense. Although whatever she did to you seemed to backfire terribly." They both cringed as they recalled the abhorrent screams they had just heard.
"…I, didn't mean for that to happen, and I don't think I was fully to blame" Lucas truly felt bad for what occurred and would try to make it up to her, even if it wasn't His fault, he didn't want to make unnecessary enemies here.
"You never answered my question about what kind of powers you have" Her tone was now void of emotion as she stuck her head over the rail again.
Lucas looked up at her,
"It's nothing I've personally ever heard of but since you are from an influential family you could have," he said
"It's like…." He trailed off thinking of the best words to use. "I think it's both a passive and an active ability to start off with,"
"Ooh, those are rare" Allison's hope although slim were starting to rise.
"I really have to concentrate to use them effectively but…"
"As do all new people, stop stalling and get on with it!" She said as her curiosity peaked.
"…"
"When I activate my powers a rush of energy fills my body. And then my mind speeds up along with my eyes. Essentially, everything I see and hear is slowed down compared to how fast my mind is moving. "
