Entering the Underground Base

Chapter 44 – Entering the Underground Base

The blazing sun showered its wrath to the world. But its burning heat wasn't enough for the soldiers to turn their heads away at the sky.

"Everyone!"

Serg's deep and rough voice echoed in the field. He was floating in the air, basking the sunlight and the gazes of the three hundred soldiers.

"Some rats had infiltrated our homes. They kidnapped our children! And posed great threat to the survival of OUR HOME… What do you think should we do about this? Should we let them live in our shelter while causing harm to our families? Or should we… KILL THEM ALL?"

Swish!

Strong killing intent burst out from the field, shooting to the sky as the sonorous voice of the soldiers echoed!

"KILL! KILL! KILL!"

They tightly clenching their weapons while intense battle intent was burning in their eyes!

"Good!" Serg nodded his head solemnly. His figure flashed and he arrived in front of the soldiers. "Follow me!"

"Yes sir!"

With Serg at the lead, the march finally started!

At the back…

"Let's go! Follow me closely!" Lucy said the moment Serg started the march.

"Yes boss!" Jhin nodded his head as he waved his hand, summoning the cloaked ink soldier. He ordered it to carry him.

He knew that with his Tier 0 strength, catching up with the speed would be impossible! Afterall, he had tried it firsthand during their return from the Mysterious Forest. The marching speed was akin to riding with a car!

Seeing that Jhin was ready, Lucy nodded her head. "Let's follow them."

"Yes boss!"

After she protected by her a few times, Jhin finally decided to call him boss. It would serve as a reminder that he was weak and powerless while also owing a favor to her. A reminder that he should act with prudence and seek any opportunity to grow stronger.

The army quickly arrived at the alley where Jhin had rescued Aria.

At this moment, Commander Serg was inspecting the surrounding. While doing so, he started drawing a large circle. It included the road and some houses. Afterwards, he floated in the air.

"Silva, attack the ground with the spell Earth Tremor. Make sure to hit the area inside the circle I created."

"Yes sir!" Silva hurried over. He jumped on the roof of a house inside the circle. A moment later, he started chanting, creating a two-fold magic circle in front of him.

"Crumble!"

He shouted as earthen yellow light flew out from his magic circle. It fell on the ground causing a loud rumbling sound to echo in the surroundings. It was as though a strong earthquake hit the area.

The ground started crumbling at a visible speed. The houses fell one by one, creating clouds of dust. Spider-web cracks appeared on the ground.

While Silva continues sending attacks on the ground, Serg on the other hand casted a three-fold magic circle. His spell emitted a metallic sheen.

"Earth Devour!"

A huge column of earthen light fell from the sky.

Boom!

The light penetrated the ground light a butter. Wherever the light passed, the rocks and mud would turn into dust. With every breathe passing, the radiance would intensify.

Ten breathes later…

The light subsided, leaving clouds of dust filling the surroundings.

Swish…

A gust of wind blew the dust away. Revealing a scene that made Jhin's mouth twitch in astonishment. He rubbed his eyes a few times, only to see the same thing again.

"This…"

The sight before him had totally changed!

Instead of the houses and roads, a massive hole replaced its place.

Jhin stared at the hole and felt a chill running down his spine. He realized that in front of a Tier 3 Combatant, he was no different from an ant. If Serg's spell hit him instead of the ground, without a doubt he would also turn into dust.

He was dazed as he looked at the massive hole akin to the entrance of the abyss.

Suddenly, a rough voice sounded from the sky.

"Under that hole was the hideout of those rats! Now, everyone jumps and starts the slaughter!" Serg said as he dived down.

"Yes sir!"

The soldiers moved towards the edge. Then, the first row jumped! Followed by the second row and so on! Each jump having an interval of three breaths.

Meanwhile, while these soldiers started entering the hole, Lucy turned her attention to Jhin. "Let's go! Make sure to stay within the three-meter radius around me!"

However, when Jhin heard those words, a shiver suddenly ran throughout Jhin's spine. He alternated his gaze from Lucy and the hole. He opened his mouth and replied in a trembling voice, "Must we really…?"

Lucy frowned the moment she saw Jhin's hesitation. "What? Are you afraid of height?"

"This… Of course, I'm not! Just that… I don't know how deep the hole was!" Jhin said while his attention trained at the pitch-dark bottom of the hole.

The fear of the unknown and his fear of height started kicking in. Despite being carried by the ink soldier; he could feel his knees turning jelly.

"Then let's go! Don't worry, with me here, you won't die!" Lucy said.

"If you say so…" Jhin gritted his teeth and commanded the ink soldier to jump. Although reluctant, he must do it for the sake of getting stronger!

"AHHHH!"

Jhin thought that he could handle it, however, when he truly felt the falling sensation, his heart almost leaped out from his chest. He could only scream to ease up a bit.

It didn't take long for him to land.

"Phew~ Thank God I'm still alive!" He muttered while taking big gulps of air.

While he was busy calming his frightened heart, Lucy's indifferent voice landed on his ears.

"Are you okay?"

It was only now that he turned his head and looked around him.

Behind him stood Lucy who has a serious expression. "If you're that fearful of height, you should've admitted it! I could've casted a feather spell for you. Allowing you to fall slowly."

"Eh?" A distorted expression warped on Jhin's face. 'Oh Goddess, you should've told me earlier! You let me suffer in vain!'

He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He could only blame his foolishness. He thought that since the soldiers jumped, he must follow their example. To think that he could ask a cheat from Lucy. 'How rash of me!'

While Jhin was blaming his foolishness, a displeased voice suddenly sounded.

"Hmph! To be so afraid of height! Yet still join the raid. Tsk! Tsk!"
