Ragnarok

Traveler Clone POV

I checked the code one last time as I exited the tank. The two alterations I had made were successful. The first was the partitioning of the code into three parts. One part held the now dormant curse, the other held my basic regeneration template that let me regrow body mass from psychic power, and the last held my propagation template that let me create new subdervient clones that had all my memories.

The second was the game of mix and match I played between the three partitions to get the desired results, creating a few copies of each and experimenting till I got it right. To get what I wanted.

Two distinct modules of code with very specific instructions. All that was left now is to wait for the right time to use them.

I could feel the true body up there in the lab. It also meant the infiltrator clone was gone. He had awoken. He was watching. I could feel his gaze crawling over me like a god sees an ant. Hair raised on my body and a chill ran down my spine as I made my utmost efforts to avoid thinking of my plans. He cannot know.

A holoscreen lit up in the chamber.

"Done already?" The monster clone asked.

"Yeah." I reached into my chest and pulled out the original curse, and laid the pulsating idea-mass in a forcefield enclosed canister, "Here you go. Should I portal it in? Or shuttle-"

"Just leave it there. We'll deal with it after clean-up. Now I'm sure you have a lot of things to do today. So go on ahead. Finish it before midnight and evacuate. We can't guarantee your survival afterwards if you dilly dally after, got it?"

"Crystal clear." I nodded.

"Well then shoo!" He shooed me away, opening a portal behind me.

"Yeah yeah. I get it. I'm going."

Suddenly a heavy voice bore down upon me like a mountain.

"You're not hiding anything are you, number 23916?" He asked.

I gulped and stood frozen in fear as a feeling of awe and respect overshadowed my mind, bending me into subservience.

"N-no, sir." I subconsciously looked down, trying to gather up enough courage to withstand the programming.

"Because I can see the programming changes you've made to your code. Very unstable ones."

It took all I had in me to not just fall down to my knees and tear my heart out under his gaze, confessing to my sins.

I breathed heavy as I resisted the deep, deep instinctual compulsion, sweat peeling off my brow like rain.

"J-just so-me insurance. Against the gods." I flipped my thought process.

'Believe in it. Believe that this is all to benefit him. It's for his good. Just for him...for him... for him' I convinced myself.

To fool one's enemies one must fool their allies first. And to fool your telepathic, godly allies, you must decieve even yourself.

As the doubts of rebellion melted away in my mind, replaced by a preprogrammed bit of code that involuntarily rewrote my thoughts, my belief in my actions being for the true body's benefit - which wasn't a lie, technically, since it would eventually help the true body in an almost prophetic manner - the pressure lessened.

Good thing he's being cautious against the curse and keeping out of my mind. If he looked in, just past the surface, I wouldn't make it out of here.

He checked the schedule I had submitted and looked back over at me.

"Yes. You've laid a trap for the gods, I see." I could feel his gaze soften, "An insurance policy is good. But don't kill yourself for a couple more divinities." He turned to the monster clone, "Project Kratos is ready right?"

He nodded.

"But they are just demigods-"

"That's why we have anti-divinity tech and reality anchors." The true body cut him off.

"Send him a troop. And don't worry too much if you can't get them all. We can always gather them post collapse." The true Jay assured.

Yeah, except that will kill my friends you jackass!

"As you wish." I nodded, keeping my thoughts to myself, "I'll take my leave then."

I knew he wasn't evil, at least to us, ourselves. But when it came to eliminating possible threats, he was relentless and ruthless.

I mean if he didn't care for clones of himself who would?

Well, there was Yue. She was just delighted when she found out about the clones. More Jay's to lavish her love on, as she put it.

Though I'm pretty sure like 10 percent of that was just her desire to sample different flavours of my blood.

I chuckled as I entered the portal and returned home.

"Goog mowwing Jay~" Yue sleepily waved at me as she munched on a pork cutlet.

"It's 10 am. And you're still sleepy?" I asked.

"We tried to wake her up but she just curled up into a cocoon of blankets." Wanda giggled.

"It's all because Wanda's chest is super soft and cozy. Reflect on your mistake." Yue deadpanned with a playful look in her eye.

Wanda just reached out and flicked her forehead.

"Uun..." Yue whined like a puppy and teleported to my lap.

"Jay~Wanda is being mean to me~"

I couldn't help but smile and kiss her forehead.

"There, there." I lifted her like a doll, facing Wanda, "Why are you being mean to our cute little Yue?" I asked.

Wanda smiled.

"This little ruffian drooled all over me in her sleep and bit off a chunk of my flesh, mumbling about 'soft, tasty Jay'."

"And how does the defendant plead?" I asked authoritatively.

Yue turned away, guiltily.

".....not guilty." She muttered.

"That doesn't look like a not guilty face~" I tickled her. She broke into little giggles on my lap.

"Sohohhihihirry." She apologized.

"Apologize to Wanda, not me." I turned her to face Wanda.

"Sorry...." Yue said.

"Apology accepted." Wanda said as Offee put a plate before me.

"Where are the kids?" I put Yue down on her chair, and picked up a cutlet myself.

"Studying upstairs with their droid instructor." She pointed to the second floor of the villa, "We'll evacuate them to the off world lab later today."

"Uhun?" I nodded, relishing the taste of the cutlets, "Your breakfast is always the best."

"It's brunch for you, mister. You already ate before you went out didn't you?" Offee pointed out.

"Oh, I did, didn't I? Well, working makes me hungry. And if you're making it, I just can't resist it~" I put my arm around her hip and pulled her close.

She made a cute noise as she landed in my lap.

I squeezed out another hug from her, my hands intertwined with hers.

Her lavender scent tickled my nose, sending jolts of happiness throughout my body.

"You sure you wanna come along for the final stage?" I asked her, and the others by extension, "It'll be dangerous. We still don't know what the old gods have up their sleeves."

"All the more reason I can't let you go on alone." Offee cupped my face, as a mischievous smile bloomed on her face, "You're sure to do something stupid."

"If Jay leaves me behind... Just remember, Castle Blackspire's dungeon has a lot of empty rooms." Yue threatened with a yandere-ish smile, raising her fork menacingly.

"Damn right." Wanda laughed, "Besides, it's not like you can leave me behind. I have the Resonant Singularity scroll after all." She flipped her hand and lo and behold, there it was, much to my confusion. The key to the old gods' realm.

"I thought we crosstested it with an android to get the coordinates of the old gods' realm already. It's used up."

A green light flickered on Wanda's fingertips as she played with the scroll, "Not when you have time magic."

"You replicated the time stone's power?" I asked, surprised.

"Yup. Figured it out with Yue and Offee's help last week while you were in a coma." Wanda grinned proudly.

"You three...." I smiled, a little proud of them too, "I appreciate it."

"You better." Wanda giggled.

"Come now. Let me go. We have a trap to spring, don't we?" Offee asked, tapping my arm.

I only squeezed her tighter, burying my face in her hair.

"Don't wanna."

She sighed and smiled softly.

"We'll go like this then?" She teased.

"Yup." I smiled cheekily, calling her bluff as portals opened up beneath us and we fell through to a field of flowers. Tables were arranged all around us, each with cups of tea and coffee, little sandwiches, snacks and sweets in trays and charcuterie boards. A pleasant autumn wind breezed past the tables, shaking the surrounding groves, hiding reality anchors that my androids had placed here yesterday. Above us a sunny sky, dotted with wavy clouds covered up the barrier trap I had set up around it to prevent the gods from escaping.

And most importantly, in the chairs surrounding the tables, sat gods, the ones I had invited.

"Welcome to Elysium." I announced, planting a kiss on Offee's cheek, as I let her go, "Those are our targets. Don't let them get away."

The girls looked at me. The gods looked at us. We looked at each other.

An awkward tension hung in the air for a moment as everyone was confused at what was happening.

"You know dear, you could have given us a warning." Offee huffed.

"More gods to suck!" Yue licked her lips as her ears perked up cutely.

"What did I expect?" Wanda sighed.

"It's them!" A greek god recognised me and alerted the rest, while the others who knrw who I was were already escaping. To no avail, of course. I had blocked all exists and an impenetrable barrier of reality breaking forcefields had enveloped the entire underworld in a pocket dimension isolated from the Magicians multiverse. In other words, there was no escape.

"You have balls, intruder." A heavy smoker stood up.

Chernobog, I recognised him from his divinity.

"But you are three, we are-"

I snapped my fingers.

Suddenly, portals opened up as an army of demigod cyborgs dropped in, equipped with anti-divinity tech. The culmination of nearly an year of work in this world.

I grinned evilly at the literal god of evil.

"You were saying?"

His eyebrow twitched and I saw them all shit their pants, some of them more literally than others, looking at you Dionysus.

"Say hello to my associates from Project Kratos. They make for charming teatime companions. Something I'm sure you'll all soon agree."

I laughed out loud as the reality anchors flipped on.

"Welcome to Ragnarok, bitches!"

And then, pandemonium broke out, leading into the slaughter.
